Ok so I've been playing Pokémon champions very actively for about a week now and I have a genuine question to ask regular VGC players. How on earth do y'all deal with the CRAZY amount of RNG in this game? Feels like every 2-3 games are decided by a flinch or a crit, it's unreal.

@DistantCoder Official tournaments are Bo3 open team sheet so that takes already lot of randomness out of the game. You also try to calculate the worst case and try educated risk/reward balancing. If you watch some top players they will always be aware of the worst case and play accordingly.

@IchhabkeinAuto yeah, Bo3 open team sheet actually sounds like a godsend. Genuinely interested in going to a Regional to experience that, because closed team sheet Bo1 like an RNGfest

@DistantCoder @IchhabkeinAuto to be fair, the best players can climb the ladder regardless of the RNG. Sure, closed team sheet bo1 is more unfair but over a large sample, if you're good you'll have a high winrate, regardless of RNG. It's literally like card games

@DistantCoder @IchhabkeinAuto Do it. It's a genuinely incredible experience but be prepared for weeks of prep and spreadsheeting if you wanna do well (which you probably already are somewhat used to cuz of yugioh).

@DistantCoder @IchhabkeinAuto Bo1 is just the ladder format, every tournament runs bo3. They might not all be OTS, but you can find some great tournaments online!
