Pretty shocking how little discussion there is about this trajectory humanity is on with AI, especially now that models can self-improve soon
Seems the whole motto is to just plough in as much money as possible, make more and more powerful models no matter the dangers (which some the US government can review after they have already been created), until obviously all countries can make extremely advanced ai models very easily and who knows what kind of crazy things will happen once some of these go out of our control or are used to fight each other for national interests
People say: ¨oh...it will just work out, just as everything else we have done in our history¨, but honestly feel this is very different. Unleashing superior intelligence in time is a major threat for human survival, it really is, and for what? Will it massively improve our well-being? Strongly doubt that
But i guess we all just stick our heads in the sand and wish for the best
