Europe: “Russia cannot wage war and then be rewarded by taking large swathes of land from the Sovereign nation of Ukraine. It would be a travesty of justice” Also Europe: “The Islamist terrorists who started a war by breaking into Israel and slaughtering over a thousand Israelis and other nationals and kidnapping 250+ should be rewarded with all the land of the Sovereign Nation of Israel. The Jews being allowed to defend themselves against rape and murder and beheadings and being burned alive and kidnapping by a 7th century death cult is a travesty of justice” There is simply no amount of mental gymnastics that can make it make sense.

@CherylWroteIt The reason it doesn't make sense is because it isn't meant to. The double standard you've highlighted isn't a contradiction - it's a symptom of something deeper and more poisonous. European left-wing governments aren't confused. They're not being inconsistent. They are applying two different standards because they see two different civilisations: one to be defended, the other to be dismantled. When Russia invades Ukraine, the Left sees a clear narrative: a thug regime attacking a liberal democracy. Ukraine fits the script. A victim state. A plucky underdog. Led by a charismatic progressive. So the Western Left rallies. Not because they care about sovereignty as a principle - but because the optics are correct. It's a politically useful war. But Israel? Israel represents something the Left despises: a successful, Westernised, self-reliant democracy built on national identity, military strength, and unapologetic borders. Worse, it's Jewish. Worse still, it wins. Israel is everything the progressive internationalist rejects: rooted in history, unashamed of its survival instinct, and unbothered by moral lectures from European states that couldn't even protect their own women from grooming gangs or terror attacks. So when Hamas - an actual death cult - slaughters civilians in cold blood, the same people who shriek "war crimes" at Putin suddenly start babbling about "cycles of violence" and "proportionality." When Israel strikes back, they clutch their pearls and call it genocide. They invent a different standard - one that only applies to Jews with guns. Because, deep down, they believe Jewish self-defence is provocative, while Arab violence is somehow understandable. It's not about peace. It's about who they want to see humiliated. This is the product of decades of post-colonial rot. The Left no longer sees the West as something to defend, but as something to apologise for. Ukraine gets support because it looks like Europe. Israel gets scorn because it reminds Europe of what it used to be - strong, tribal, armed, and unrepentant. The real dividing line isn't between aggressor and victim. It's between those who are allowed to fight back, and those who are not. Jews, in the eyes of the European Left, are not supposed to fight back. They're meant to die quietly or negotiate their own destruction. That's why a sovereign Jewish nation defending its people triggers more outrage than Hamas burning infants alive. It's not a glitch. It's the ideology working exactly as designed. So yes, you're right. There are no mental gymnastics that can make this make sense. Because sense was never the goal. This is a moral inversion. A civilisational betrayal. And the people pushing it should never be allowed to speak in the name of "justice" again. "Israel is everything the progressive internationalist rejects: rooted in history, unashamed of its survival instinct, and unbothered by moral lectures from European states that couldn’t even protect their own women from grooming gangs or terror attacks."

Europe - hypocrisy at its best. For centuries they burned, killed, tortured and expelled the Jews who have done nothing but contribute to the society. And now, they flooded their own countries with jihadi terrorists who can’t wait to slit their throats. Europe fully earned what it will get in a few years time - a full blown civil war between the peoples of Europe and the Islamic terrorists. Bon voyage, Europe!

The contradiction is so glaring it's almost impressive, Cheryl. Territorial integrity is sacred when it's Ukraine but negotiable when it's Israel. Self-defense is heroic when it's Kyiv but somehow "disproportionate" when it's Jerusalem. Europe spent decades learning the hard way that appeasing aggressors doesn't bring peace - it brings more aggression. Yet here they are, pushing Israel to reward Hamas for October 7th while demanding Russia get nothing for invading Ukraine. It's not mental gymnastics that's missing - it's intellectual honesty. They know exactly what they're doing. One standard for countries they identify with, another for the one Jewish state that refuses to disappear quietly. The pattern's been running for decades. We just keep pretending it's about "context" instead of what it actually is.

I wholeheartedly support Israel and believe Israel should finish the job and remove all of the so-called Palestinians and the terrorists they support from Gaza! It's interesting to consider that without corrupt US politicians there would be no Russia-Ukraine war. Go back to 2013-14 when Obama/Biden's CIA instigated a revolt in Ukraine to overthrow the government of the pro Russia president who shunned the EU - causing a chain reaction of deadly events that leads us to where we are today! Also, consider the case of Israe's conflict, that some of the funding for Hamas / other terror groups in the region comes from dark money received via a number of nefarious NGOs financed by money provided by US politicians. Lots of cash involved with potential for every source in the chain taking a cut of the money. It's certainly troubling to see what appears to be an Islamification of Europe as a result of the mass migration of Muslims who have imbedded themselves in political seats of power. We are seeing this same activity, to a lesser extent, happening in the US and Canada. And this brings us to the ridiculous notion of the UK, France, and Canada proclaiming they will announce at the September 2025 United Nations meeting that they will recognize Gaza as a Palestinian state.

@CherylWroteIt 🇵🇸 was there first. Jews were brought from Europe and 'given' a piece of that land. They decided to instead occupy, subjugate and now genocide the indigenous population under the pretence of 'defence' Russia invaded Ukraine. 2 sovereign nations in an actual war. You knew that.

You convinced me Russia should keep at least part of the land that it took. It's the fastest way to peace, and peace is what they need to Ukraine more, than bombs and missiles. The Ukraine war you can partly blame on the previous US administration. They made no effort to try and to negation a peace at the beginning of the war. The war had stalled out the very beginning and was the perfect opportunity for peace negotiations. Russia would have an opportunity to air their grievances and Ukraine would have to listen. They would have to sit around the table and listen. Even if the peace negotiations took 2 years, at least they would have a forum for peace and no war. One of the grievances Russia had at the beginning were all the experimental biolabs in Ukraine. "We will get rid of them. The US can no longer do research in our country," Ukraine could have said. They could have made a corridor for Russia to supply the Crimea Peninsula. In fact, Russia could have negotiated settlement with Ukraine so they could share Ukraine — they could have gotten back a half of the Crimea Peninsula. There are a lot of deals that could be made, if they had leadership for peace and not for war. "Along came a businessman..."

Russia has nukes now – Ukraine doesn’t we made Ukraine give them up in 2014 – Russia invaded Ukraine without any moral justification-Europe remembers World War II & fears Russia-out of deference to the wishes of the Victim’s families Israel made the huge mistake imo of not immediately widely publicizing in msm all the details of Hamas’ gleeful barbaric October 7 killings, the 47 minute documentary that came out much later was too little too late as the damage was already done by Qatar & Iran propaganda machine funded wide Pro-Palestinian protests that started on October 8-Israel failed in teaching the world what Gaza was like before October 7 they literally think that Gaza on October 7 was comprised of a number of “refugee camps“ where everyone there was literally still living, in tents without running water or sanitation & Imshin alone can’t fix that totally false narrative -Israel is still failing to show the world how Gazans have taught their children for the past 20 years how to hate and kill Jews from kindergarten age on-overwhelming majority of people in the West have no idea what the ‘pay-for-slay’ policy is-the majority in the West have no knowledge that for years it was Palestinian policy that each family have at least 10 kids even if they lived only in a small one room apartment– only more recently did it drop to 8.3 and now lower to about 3.4-Gaza has been winning the media war from before Day 1-Gaza has no nukes & is seen as the oppressed-Gaza is seen as the victim just as Ukraine is-Ukraine really is a victim-very few Gazans imo deserve the same deference after October 7-I pray Trump doesn’t sell Ukraine out nor give up the US’s strong support of Israel-but there is an election coming up in 2028 🙏🇮🇱💙
