Constant threats from Adani to cut off electricity that powers millions of homes and essential infrastructure in Bangladesh would naturally push any government to act swiftly. While dues can be settled over time, given the strong trade relationship between Bangladesh and India, repeated threats are unacceptable and would never be tolerated by any government that prioritizes its people.

The confirmation came from Bangladesh’s Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources during a press briefing on November 4, 2025. Power Secretary Mohammad Rezaul Karim stated that a formal notice of intent to terminate has been issued to Adani Power, citing “unfavorable terms” and violations of contract clauses related to tariff adjustments.
