This is a massive problem for so many reasons:
1. Damage. It's simply not possible for any package to make it through any mailing system unscathed unless it's protected WELL. Even a box/bubble envelope isn't enough half the time, but certainly the bare minimum.
2. Theft. This makes it so incredibly easy for someone to see something they like and "misplace" it.
3. Privacy. It's neither your neighbor's nor your mail carrier's business what you're shopping for and what your preferences are. Or roommates or friends/family if other people live there.

@QuintsVessel Terrible. Similar thing happened to me once with a T2 DVD. Cover was permanently damaged.
