In another step towards enhancing resident convenience, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has now allowed people to add or update their email ID in Aadhaar directly through the Aadhaar App, eliminating the need to visit an Aadhaar centre. This is a free service via the Aadhaar App only, effective 1 July 2026 for a period of six months, making it easier than ever for residents to keep their Aadhaar information up to date. By removing the requirement for physical visits, the initiative underlines UIDAI's commitment to providing people friendly digital service as part of Digital India initiative towards a Viksit Bharat. People can download the #AadhaarApp here: pehchaan.uidai.gov.in/app/download #UpdateEmailinAadhaar #OnlineEmailUpdate #FreeUpdate

Please stop referring to it as an email "ID". It's not an "email ID"; it's an *email address*. I don't know where people are learning this wrong terminology from. It mirrors its non-electronic counterpart, the mail address, which is what you'd use for mail to be delivered to your home, which has an ID (identity of the person/entity receiving the mail) + a location (where to deliver it). Email is the same way: in "id@example.com", the "ID" would be "id" and the location would be "example.com", and together, they form an address.

@UIDAI I corrected address through the Aadhaar app on 20 June 2026. After the update, the Care of/Son of field was automatically removed from my Aadhaar. In the Aadhaar app, the profile section now shows “Care of: Content is not available”. SRN- S1362519042060
