@waldmenschen I visited Japan before the tourist explosion and it was very surreal--barely any foreigners, even in Tokyo. Like Lost in Translation. I live much closer now but purposely avoid going back because I know that it's not the same and it'd somehow lessen the original experience.

understand that this is a very rare breed of redditor believed to be extinct since the mid-2000s. this footage is the equivalent of the accidental rediscovery of the Wondiwoi Tree Kangaroo in 2018. we now have evidence of a living individual and new hope that there may be more

🚨 TERRIFYING! Moment caught on a Ring camera shows a deranged man in a long coat crashing out asking “where is your daughter?” And threatened the man on the cam that he “will end him” if he doesn’t open the door How would you handle this tense situation?

I don’t get why some people on airplanes think the rules don’t apply to them. I once had a guy behind me ask me if I didn’t mind could I not recline my seat on an 8 hr flight to London because he was tall and my seat hit his knees. No thanks, pal. That’s why I paid for the exit row because I’m tall as well and I’m not sitting upright for 8 hrs because you didn’t think ahead.

@SandyofCthulhu Sometimes it's just like that. We went to a corporate Mexican place a few years ago and all three orders came out wrong. We sent every single meal back and just left without eating. It's uncomfortable and annoying for everyone when the people cooking the food can't do it right.

I went to Texas Roadhouse and ordered a steak medium rare. The nice waitress took her time to carefully explain what a "medium rare" steak looked like. I already knew, of course - I've been eating steak for 65 years - but I was polite and listened. She made sure I knew that a medium rare steak was red in the middle, not pink. I guess she gets customers who don't have a clue. Anyway the steak came out and it was absolutely well-done. Not a trace of red or even pink. I cut it in half and showed it to the waitress, and she was appalled. I didn't have her take it back - my wife already had her meal and we had places to go after dinner so why delay. So I ate my damn well-done steak, and I even tipped the waitress (I assume it was not her fault). But I haven't returned to Texas Roadhouse since.

He sent his steak back FIVE times, each time they brought him a new steak. Don't be like this person!

@dorzacht @EricRichards22 Being able to visualize the topo map in 3D by looking at it helps and is fun but isn't really important for interpretation of the data. You can just look at the numbers and space between lines and still comprehend its meaning.

Praying for all the couples who ever got fooled into thinking that the 'mile high club' was ever a serious idea. Have you ever smelled an airplane bathroom? Half of the time the floor and walls are sticky. It's one step from a porta john. Is that really how you like it?

@ColoRocko @Cr7Godbrand Yeah but that's not what's happening to the person in the story. I'm the same. I have had sex with my wife, where she actually wanted it, once in the past three years. Zero kissing during that same time. It's a divorceable offense for a romantic partner to check out like that.

Married older man here: stop overthinking this, young married dudes. Are you and your wife compatible and happy in all other regards? But she doesn’t want to “jump your bones” like in the courting days, yet she’ll still work in some regular bedroom time with you? That’s about as good as it gets, and this really isn’t bad at all.

Here’s a lesson for all men who are thinking about getting married: modern women hate marital sex. They enjoy premarital sex with their boyfriends during the chasing and courting phase. They also enjoy extramarital sex with other men, but they frequently lose interest in sex with their husbands and begin to see it as a chore. When it comes to sex with their husbands, they may offer excuses such as a stomachache, headache, or simply not being in the mood.things they had no problem with during the courting phase. Many women do not marry their first choice. You may not be her first choice; instead, you may be a “beta” man with a scarcity mindset whose role is to pay her bills and provide validation, time, energy, and resources. This is why some women use sex and commitment to “lock you in” until they get that ring and then they stop caring. Be very smart..

@BestMovieMom I was too young to know about Reeves his accident. I learned about him through Oprah. It was obvious to me, even at seven, that he was interested in spinal research and stem cells because of what had happened to him. I'm sure he was fine but this interest wasn't unconditional.

On May 27, 1995, Superman star Christopher Reeve was paralyzed after a tragic horse-riding accident. Lying in the hospital, unable to move, he was suicidal and saw no way forward. Suddenly, a "Russian proctologist" burst into his room, demanding an immediate rectal exam. Reeve panicked… until the doctor removed his mask. It was his old friend from the Juilliard School, Robin Williams. Williams cracked jokes, making Reeve laugh for the first time since the crash. Reeve later said, "If I can laugh, I can live." Reeve, carried by this support, became a relentless activist for spinal cord research until his death in 2004.

@mahasr199 I have thought about repatriating but, frankly, Taiwan has some very good things going for it. The low wages are a systematic quirk but ultimately not as bad as they seem. Things like 2% mortgage rates and meals that cost $3 make the COL very low.

@mahasr199 I live in Taiwan. Despite some workers earning less, the average quality of life here is arguably higher than what you would find in much of the US. Minimum wage here is also enough to pay rent and eat decently.

@999tommy__ @davidpattersonx Look at how quickly things have escalated during the past five years and then look at modern robotics. Humanoid robots are quickly going to become cheap with economies of scale. They are the new iPhone. I imagine it will be a lot like I, Robot (2004).

We will reach AGI and ASI by the end of the year, and there will be immediate demand for billions of humanoid robots. There are no conditions under which it would take 10 or 20 years to supply that demand. It will take 3 or 4 years to replace all human workers. Everything will accelerate, and the market economy will supply the demand. Many things that people think are impossible will happen, starting this year.

@EmpiresPod_ The problem with this is you can only disrupt the bagel so much. It's just a piece of bread with some toppings. Hard to upsell that when your existing chain or neighborhood place is already a 8-9/10.

Bagels are on fire right now - Fueled by the rise of PopUp Bagels, many brands are competing for national scale. Its' not quite at the level of the "cookie wars" sparked by Crumbl (yet) - But the category is undoubtedly hot. Will be interesting to see where this goes...

Do you know that the average single man can go months or even years without non-sexual physical touch. No hugs. No hand-holding. No comforting pat on the back? The only time many men experience gentle touch is from a barber or a paid sex worker. This condition is called 'Skin Hunger,' and it leads to severe depression and anxiety. Society has labeled male touch as 'predatory' or 'creepy,' so men have learned to starve themselves of human contact just to make women feel comfortable. They are dying of loneliness in a crowded room.
