Frontier models are exceptionally efficient, intelligent, and useful. For agents, context is now the bottleneck. Enter the context layer, which bridges the gap from an enterprise's messy data to actionable context, packaged for agents. We're seeing three distinct verticals emerge in the context layer space: - Data gravity platforms - Existing AI data analysts - New, dedicated context layer companies Read the full piece by @JasonSCui and @JenniferHli: a16z.news/p/your-data-ag…

Our @Basedash slack bot just got a nice upgrade where we stream in the thinking steps right to slack. No more setting an 👀 emoji on a slack message and waiting and wondering. Also useful to check the chain of thought right from slack in case the agent looked through data incorrectly and you want to guide it in a follow-up to do something different.

"My ARR starts at the first dollar. And I'm not crazy, YOU'RE crazy for thinking you need a full year of data, like some dude in a cave looking for genuine contracted revenue. I made $400 on launch day. Annualized. Boom, that's $146k ARR. That's day one. Week two I got a second customer. I add a sales velocity multiplier to the run rate. Boom, that's $1.1M ARR. What I've done now is I have changed and manipulated time-to-revenue. I now get 5 years of ARR growth in a single quarter. Stack that up over a seed round, I'm going to kick your butt. Stack that up over a Series A, you're toast."

Cluely is not the only ai company that's lying about ARR. You really think all these companies went to $100M in real fucking ARR overnight? Easy come, easy go.

@KrisLachance My reasoning model concludes that this classic ad format is likely to perform extremely well on traditional media placements. If you can give me the proposed ad spend, I would be happy to build a chart that models out the return on ad spend scenarios. Just let me know.

The $10 million Super Bowl ad we’ll make one day: We'll cast Josh Brener, who plays Big Head on the HBO show Silicon Valley. Script: Josh is a data analyst. He can't write SQL. He doesn't know what a JOIN is. He once referred to a pivot table as "that spinny thing." Every Monday, he walks into the all-hands with dashboards that make the VP of Finance weep. Beautiful trend lines. Cohort analyses that actually make sense. Revenue forecasts that are… right. The CEO starts CCing him on board decks. A partner at Sequoia adds him on LinkedIn. He gets promoted to COO. COLLEAGUE (whispering): "I think he might be the best analyst I've ever worked with." OTHER COLLEAGUE: "I heard he turned down Palantir." (He didn't. They never called.) The board requests that Josh personally present the quarterly business review. He shows up 10 minutes late with a half-eaten bag of Cheetos. They give him a standing ovation. CEO (on the verge of tears): "Josh… how do you do it?" Josh shrugs. CUT TO: Josh, alone at his desk, typing into Basedash: "are we making money" Basedash connects to the warehouse. Builds the dashboard. Writes the exec summary. Formats the slides. Josh copies it into Slack. Adds a 🧠 emoji. Standing ovation at the all-hands. FADE TO BLACK. @Basedash. Business Superintelligence.

I've been waiting for cloud agents to be better than local development for a while now. I think @cursor_ai has finally nailed it. Cloud agents are appealing for a few reasons: 1. Parallel by default (no git worktrees!) 2. Run from anywhere (laptop, phone, overnight) 3. Easier for non-technical teammates to jump in But the experience hasn't been good (until now). 1. The setup process sucks. Usually involves defining init/update commands or manually configuring a remote VM. Cursor just spins up an agent to do it for you. It looks through your package.json, README, etc. like a real dev would. 2. Reviewing agent PRs sucks. Usually need to pull down the changes locally and manually QA. Lots of context switching. Cursor does it for you, and records a video of the process. I'm cautiously optimistic but this feels like it could replace local dev for me.

Couple senior engineers vibe coding all day. Designer rapidly vibe-prototyping. Wordcel vibe-writing content. Yapper giving good vibes on calls/social media. That’s it. That’s the team.
andrew chen@andrewchen

anyone with theories on how software teams will evolve? today: 1 eng, 1 PM, 1 designer (EPD) tomorrow: 10 PMs who vibe code all day + 1 eng architect (the architect creates the scaffolding and writes adversarial agents to manage tech debt, security, scalability issues) Thoughts?

Startup people love to say that execution is all that matters. Our experience is that *what* you choose to work on is equally important. We bet the entire company on a new problem. It changed everything.
