What if Anthropic's plan to profitability is:

@QuestWithMatt Same as on the Steam, PSN Store, and Nintendo eShop. Meta shouldn’t have allowed everyone to post absolutely everything on their Store. They should have kept the old App Lab feature for early access games, so the shovelware would not flood.

@BitPlanetGames @thedowd The VR space is filled with a bunch of voids that need to be filled so to speak (from gaming to entertainment to productivity). RecRoom filled the kids social/gaming void imo. Still waiting for VR to kick off but it’s not looking good.

Devs are just throwing money away in a burning dumpster. This will sell 10X more on PSVR2 that it could ever wish on PCVR. I get it, it's free to develop for PC because of the mandatory PSVR2 devkit. But, do you want your game played by more than 500 people?

One technology that I really wanted to take off, but hasn't, is VR.
I mean, I was a teenager the first time around, when the devices used CRTs and you needed a strong neck. Played the bird game in the arcades. The graphics on these devices was very naff.
But modern devices (like the Meta Quest 3) which I own are fine. They are light weight, good image quality, decent passthrough for XR and responsive. But for some reason they don't seem to have evolved beyond toys. I've tried using them for serious 3D visualisation as part of my workflow, but its quite clunky to get them to do that. There seem a lot of barriers to development.

@whereisaaron We never said we’re not coming to PSVR2 because we’re making enough on Quest.
We said we’ve talked to other top selling Quest devs and the feedback was it’s not worth the lift to port.
We’ll see if that changes this year.

Golf+ on PSVR2? Golf+ has been stuck on Quest, coz devs said were making enough money not to worry about other platforms. Now with Quest imploding, devs have announced PCVR plans for 2026. They'd only say this could be "a step towards" PSVR2, so let them know if you want that.

Release it on PCVR. I would probably do content on this game for free. But I won’t because recording good footage via Quest is a PITA and live-streaming is nearly impossible #vr

@Lunayian I've been telling people that not to think of it as a Quest at all. In fact I think they may go with a different naming convention for this one. More in line with what it does and less inline with the "gaming" nature of the Quest line.

This Chet Faliszek vid is the best insight into Valve's VR mindset.
Slow, steady progress. Issue? It's in the face of, in Chet/Gabe's view, a "distorted market".
IMO Valve should help course correct. Support a handful of devs doing 'god's work' in VR.

Valve wants VR to be just like normal Steam - they don't have to pay any studios to make content because you can't afford not to be on Steam.
Steam Frame is another step in that journey rather than arriving at the destination. But they could do more to push it further along!
