@MatofKilburnia Once european jet fuel has run out, what do you want them to do? Let the passengers board and have the pilot make flying noises through the intercom for 8hrs?

@BunyipRedux @hector_drummond It is more common for men to, though quite rare for both sexes when it's terminal. Even if you struggle with the whole "life committed to someone else's needs" thing, people can usually tough it out for 6 months to a year.

@SusanEl63545035 @procurementfile They can't be issued with the "latest top of the range model of whatever car they want" You have to pay deposits to take care of the difference between the mobility payments and actual car value (VAT now applying to such deposits) and many more cars not in the motability scheme.

Bristol City Council, run by The Green Party, spent £13.9million on Home-to-School Transport ‘HTST’ in 2025. The top three providers alone were paid £5.5m. 24 payments totalling £401k were redacted. The top supplier was Club Bristol Ltd; paid £2.1m. Office below. 🧵1/3

@RoyalEndeavour So far Carney has overseen a net negative 102,000 immigration. Which led me to this surprise piece: a Guardian article MSM shitlib left actually admitting mass immigration affects housing costs. #comments" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">theguardian.com/world/2026/apr…

This is the most shocking article I've ever seen. The Guardian actually publishing a piece admitting mass immigration causes housing problems. theguardian.com/world/2026/apr…

@lillai23 or here's the better idea... maybe you wouldn't have needed UC if the super wealthy didn't get their way with mass immigration and there were 10mn fewer people to bid up rents and suppress wages...

Being a CEO is a "low-skill job". High-school dropouts have done it many many times quite successfully: Walt Disney, Richard Branson, Henry Ford, Ray Kroc, Amancio Ortega, Simon Cowell...
Alex Napier Holland 🦍@NapierHolland

@Dexterow4p @Alonso_GD ‘Their worth’. Flipping burgers and cleaning toilets are low-skill jobs that are easily replaced. Having an emotional hissy fit in response to these facts doesn’t change anything.

26% increase in Rent REDUCTIONS. Landlords CAN'T charge what they like. The market always, always decides. No exceptions. The market doesn't care what your costs are. The market doesn't have feelings. Left alone (which it isn't) the market is always the least bad option.
Emma Fildes@emmafildes

The average advertised rent of homes outside London were reported to have flatlined for the first time since 2017 in Q1, at £1,370 per calendar month, according to @rightmove This however was at a time when rates were forecast to fall and Ali Khamenei was still alive, so renters were considering getting a step up onto the ladder. London however was less fortunate as affordability, though improved, remained a stretch and landlords here continue to abort their sub 5% yields, causing average advertised rents in London to rise by 0.7% to £2,736pcm. Demand, overall, continued to weaken but remained up on pre-covid levels while supply increased 3% on last year's numbers. This resulted in a 26% increase in price reductions suggesting the gravy train in certain regions has slowed.

@finniethep00h @sub2pewdsONyt Because it introduces massive inefficiencies in the system. What you'll find is that bottom rungs will be let go and then contractors used to do that work. The contracting company might even have people related to the C suite running said company.

mind you national living wage at 37.5h/wk puts you on a salary of £24,784.50 i think a ceo, ‘cooperate’ lawyer, and a top level surgeon would all manage sufficiently well on a salary of a quarter of a million pounds
IC@isaac1k__

didn’t even read the rest, 10:1 pay ratio is the dumbest thing i’ve ever heard in my entire life. you could be a CEO, a cooperate lawyer, a top level surgeon, but you can’t earn over 120k because the part time cleaner earns 12k.

@cem_uk_ £238,100 is probably not bad for the boss of a cleaning company or the boss of an admin company. Oh yeah, they'll just sack the everyone earning a <tenth of the C suite and contract the work out to specialist companies... (Probably run by themselves or a related party.)

Full time min wage in UK is £23,810. If bosses want to pay themselves more than £238,100, they will have to pay more than min wage. Watch how quickly they find that money when they realise their salaries are capped by what they pay their lowest earners. x.com/isaac1k__/stat…

The 10:1 pay ratio is such infantile utopianism it frankly beggars belief. It's such an unserious, student-politics-like policy that it it almost incomprehensible that it is a real suggestion from a major contender in British politics. Mind blowing!
Politics UK@PolitlcsUK

🚨 NEW: Green leader Zack Polanski will call for policies to end the "affordability crisis" tomorrow - The introduction of a 10:1 pay ratio, whereby the highest-paid employee earns no more than ten times the lowest-paid - Free school meals for all primary and secondary pupils - Universal energy bill support for households and stronger rent controls - A customs union with the EU to cut business costs
