Fourth Lateran Council (1215) Defined Transubstantiation and required annual confession and Communion. 13. First Council of Lyon (1245) Addressed Church reform and deposed Emperor Frederick II. 14. Second Council of Lyon (1274) Sought reunion with the Eastern Church and discussed Purgatory and papal elections. 15. Council of Vienne (1311–1312) Suppressed the Knights Templar and promoted Church reform. 16. Council of Constance (1414–1418) Ended the Western Schism and condemned errors of Wycliffe and Hus. 17. Council of Basel-Ferrara-Florence (1431–1445) Attempted reunion with Eastern Christians and defined doctrines concerning the Sacraments and Purgatory. 18. Fifth Lateran Council (1512–1517) Addressed Church reform and condemned certain philosophical errors. 19. Council of Trent (1545–1563) Responded to Protestantism and defined Scripture, Tradition, the Sacraments, and Justification. 20. If one deviates from that, one does NOT have Catholic beliefs. The issue is whether the Protestant movement has 1 set of unified beliefs. God bless!

THE REASONS CATHOLICS BAPTIZE BABIES -(read carefully till the end) Baptism isn’t a symbol. It SAVES (1 Peter 3:21). It removes original sin, makes you a child of God, and brings you into Christ’s Body the Church. And yes, that includes INFANTS. Infant baptism, or paedobaptism, is the Christian practice of baptizing infants and young children, often called christening, which initiates them into the church. The claim: “Babies can’t believe, so they shouldn’t be baptized.” But Scripture never excludes them. Acts 2:39 — “The promise is for you and your children.” Luke 18:15 — people brought even infants to Christ. Did Jesus reject them? No. He said: “Let the children come to me.” (Matt. 19:14) If baptism is how we are “born again of water and Spirit” (John 3:5), why deny it to them? The early Church never did. Augustine of Hippo called infant baptism apostolic unchallenged from the beginning. Objection: “It requires personal faith.” So did circumcision? No. Yet infants were included in the Old Covenant. Baptism is the NEW Covenant—and greater. Infants are baptized in the faith of the Church, through their parents and godparents. They are born in sin. They deserve grace. HOW SAINTS ARE MADE IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH The Catholic Church doesn’t randomly declare saints. Every canonization begins with a brutal investigation into a person’s life, writings, virtues, and even miracles. The process normally has four major stages: Servant of God The bishop of the person’s diocese opens an investigation into their life. The person is then called “Servant of God.” Venerable After detailed examination by the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints and approval by the Pope, the Church declares that the person lived heroic virtue. They are then called “Venerable.” Blessed (Beatification) Usually, one verified miracle through the person’s intercession is required. After beatification, the person may be publicly honored in certain regions or communities and is called “Blessed.” Saint (Canonization) A second confirmed miracle is generally required. The Pope then declares the person a saint, so the universal Church may venerate them publicly. Martyrs are treated somewhat differently because they died for the faith; a miracle may not be required for their beatification. The purpose of canonization is not to “make” someone holy, but to formally recognize that the person is already in Heaven and worthy of imitation and veneration by the faithful.
