How I spent 1996:
My boss wandered into my office and said "Hey Dave, do you want to rewrite pinball for Windows NT?". I said "Hell ya" and got paid to write and play pinball for two months... while listening to Soundgarden. And kudos to the original designers for a classic!

It's true! Microsoft built IE for UNIX (including Solaris)!
Along with Outlook Express and Windows Media Player!
(I was on the team that did part of that. Fun times!)

Installing Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 on Sun Solaris 7 🤓🌍🌞 Back in the late 90s, Microsoft was shipping a version of their browser for UNIX operating systems, such as Solaris and HP-UX! In this clip, I go through the whole IE4 for UNIX installation process, which (of course) takes place in the terminal! I sped up the "Setting up display server cache" part, which actually took ~40 seconds! 😅

@mswin_bat It's likely the same fundamental bug that broke it on Merced IA64 for Windows XP. AXP might be easier to debug, but I'm not familiar w/ Alpha ASM that much, and I'm not certain if the AXP64 build includes windbg or the like.

The only AXP64 Windows build that managed to escape Microsoft is now publicly available! Pinball is there but it doesn't work, maybe @FOSSfirefighter can figure out why?

Hey @PlayStreamBeats /@HarrisHeller ive been using streambeats for all my streams past few years but over the past week ive been getting non-stop copywrite strikes/ad sense revenue claims against my old VODs, is something going on?

@TeamYouTube The alleged infringement is for a guitar ballad the actual track in stream is EDM/techno. The option for "Licensed" seems to imply that I have to a license from the claimant for the track listed.
I'm using music from @PlayStreamBeats that is licensed for streaming

@FOSSfirefighter if you cleared the rights to use copyrighted material in your video, you might want to give the copyright owner your video's title and URL to avoid a removal or block. if that doesn't work, you can also dispute the claims here ➡️ goo.gle/46d6IsF

Well this is really shitty. I did a stream fundraising last December. I didn't monetize this stream, and I used the @PlayStreamBeats library to avoid content ID stuff.
Today, it got a claim on it, which is now diverting all revenue it earns from YT ads 1/

@PlayStreamBeats @TeamYouTube I'll unlist the stream for now, and hope for a response.
I'll probably have to figure out which track tripped content ID, but this was months ago, and the music was very soft.

@PlayStreamBeats I had an earlier post which tagged @TeamYouTube on this, but I replaced it with this because I didn't realize it was one of my fundraisers at first.
I don't even have an option to dispute the claim as misidentified. I can either say I own it all, or I have a license.

@abject @Microsoft No screen artifacts so this is 32-bit or someone fixed that bug.
