Gig workers deserve employment status...which would provide them with: ✅ paid sick leave ✅ protected medical leave (in some states like CA, paid) ✅ Disability Insurance ✅ Workers Compensation if they contract Coronavirus at work

Real question to attorneys and theatre/opera folks: how did a directed play or opera with paid actors or musicians ever survive a challenge of employer Misclassification under the law before AB5? It’s hard to see how that could survive a Borello challenge.

As long we get consensus in the next two weeks, we will be able to move our bill with urgency. I am moving something, so I am hopeful we can get language that protects side musicians. We also have put in language to provide relief for performances at various venues. 3/
