I don’t think it’s likely to delay or prevent a move on Taiwan. Quite the contrary. I think, instead, they are essentially ceding Taiwan, and aggressively pursuing what they see as more critical fronts on the coming global conflict.

I am a Democrat. I served in the Clinton administration. I did not vote for Donald Trump and am highly unlikely to support him or his acolytes in the future. I also have serious disagreements with many of the Trump administration’s domestic and foreign policies.
But it is profoundly disturbing that a growing segment of the far left appears to be almost rooting for Hamas, Hezbollah, the Iranian regime, and other forces fundamentally opposed to the United States and our allies. This seems to reflects a corrosive strain of anti-Americanism, dressed up in postcolonial theory, that risks blinding us to the moral realities of our world and the nature of our adversaries.

Most of #USC DC Gary Patterson’s recruiting classes at TCU typically fell in the No. 30–50 range, with several in the 40s and 50s, which makes what he accomplished - including multiple 10+ win seasons and a College Football Playoff appearance in 2014...even more notable.
Patterson led the Horned Frogs to a 181-79 record, including two undefeated regular seasons and 10+ win seasons in 2002, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, and 2017
The takeaway: Patterson didn’t need top-10 classes to build elite defenses.

Raises a lot of interesting questions. What type of DVT ? Asymptomatic , calf vein or proximal? A 10% rate of proximal DVT is very high and unusual for a surgery where you are ambulatory next day and for someone who isn’t hypercoagulable.
If there’s something about this that there’s a 10% prox dvt rate then those getting active treatment would also be at risk for this — you can’t usually anticoagulate right away after a brain procedure .. so much more problematic to have a prox DVT in active arm.
The Penn professor didn’t read Adam’s article about what fda means when it says sham I guess.

The 2019 trial sham surgery for Uniqure was superficial skin nicks and specifically did not require drilling into the skull, or a brain injection.
The only person who says the FDA asked for partial burr holes etc. is the CEO of Uniqure.

Sham surgery involves both an incision in the skin around the skull and the drilling of “partial burr holes” that are 2 millimeters deep — not far enough to puncture the bone. The real issue, however, is the anesthesia. In order to simulate the real surgery and protect the blind of the clinical trial, participants randomized to sham surgery are put under general anesthesia for 10-12 hours.
