100 years ago today, Robert Goddard launched a ten foot rocket from a cabbage field in Massachusetts. It flew for 2.5 seconds. It went 41 feet high. Every liquid fueled rocket engine that has fired since, every Saturn V, every Falcon 9, nearly every spacecraft humanity has ever built traces back to that moment. They called him crazy. They said rockets couldn't work in a vacuum. He kept building. 100 years later, humans are reusing rockets and @AstroForge we're working to land on asteroids. Happy birthday to the entire industry. Let's keep going.

@DanTalks1 This is hilarious, you honestly couldn’t make this up. Trump decided on a whim, with zero discussion with allies, to attack Iran. It’s now clearly not going according to plan and he’s worried body bags will hurt his midterms so now want allies to step in.

@cspan You didn’t need defending, USA wasn’t under attack! You started a war you now realise you can’t finish because you didn’t have a plan. If you’d have talked to your allies before you attacked they’d have told you it was a bad idea. Too late to cry now

President Trump criticizes lack of support from U.K. and NATO allies on Iran strikes: "It's very disappointing…We spend trillions and trillions of dollars on NATO to defend other countries.…If it ever comes time to defend us, they're not going to be there."

@JamesSantory @matthewdmarsden You have no issue with America unilaterally starting a war without sharing plans with anyone, which cuts off energy from an entire continent then just walks away from the mess? I suppose you actually believed an Iran attack on USA was imminent as well?

@matthewdmarsden You are right. We only get 1% of our oil flowing through there and we don't need it and could end our part of the war right now and those who do use the oil can find a way to protect it on their own.

@matthewdmarsden America started the war without sharing plans with anyone. 2 weeks ago Trump said EU and UK support wasn’t required. America has fired missiles from 200km and bombs from 40k feet and now wants allies to dig them out of the shit show they’ve started and don’t know how to stop .

Sky News dig up Jonathan Gullis to comment on Iran, "Whenever we are in need of defence, we are calling on the Americans to help us out" "So I do think Donald Trump has a right to feel aggrieved" "Whenever there is an element of us asking the Americans to get involved, we expect them to come straight away" "When Trump is asking for a bit of assistance, even if we don't agree with it, we should at least engage properly in those conversations" "Because American lives have been put at risk time and time again" "And the US has been the west's security barriers for many many years"

@0jhl Conversely, children are safer riding inside of bigger cars, so there is that. 🤷‍♂️

It's unfortunate and ironic to pit families against each other given that action against #carspreading is actually about stopping kids from being hurt. Polling shows London parents are rightly concerned that bigger cars make it more dangerous for children to walk and cycle.

Sadiq Khan's latest plans for a tax on larger vehicles in London is just a family car tax, squeezing more money out of families already struggling with rising petrol costs and a myriad of other tolls and taxes to use their vehicle. It's his anti-car agenda, plain and simple.

@0jhl Not a fan of SUVs but this picture doesn't hold up because stopping distances are not factored. A kid runs in front of a car within it's blind spot nothing can stop in time

Net Zero dogma is weakening our economy and our national security. Unlock North Sea energy, boost tax revenue, strengthen our economy and security. Energy security is national security. A future @Conservatives government will drill the North Sea. Put Britain first 🇬🇧

@MelJStride @Conservatives Governments don't drill for oil, private oil companies do. And they sell their oil on the global market for global prices. Mel knows this but he's hoping others will be outraged because it's easier than find out out the truth - don't fall for it

@implausibleblog It's been explained a million times. North Sea oil is drilled by private companies who sell on the global market at global proces. Thatcher made this happen when she sold our stake in BP in the 1980s

Trevor Philips, "Isn't the simplest way to protect energy bills to draw our our own oil and gas resources in the north sea?" Ed Miliband, "We are using the North Sea, ensuring existing oil and gas fields can be used for their lifetime" "New drilling will not take a penny off people's bills" "Some people want to pretend that if only we drilled more prices would go down" @Ed_Miliband you wasted the opportunity to explain why prices wouldn't go down, do that next time please

@griffitha Reducing the tax on one product just means it needs to increase on another. You realise the country is one of the most indebted in the world?

If 🥀 socialist Labour want to reduce prices at the pumps, they’d cut fuel duty or the many other taxes already on fuel. (That’s even before all the other ways they fleece motorists).

Activists are now openly shoplifting from Tesco, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons. Calling it “liberating food.” 🙄 This is the same group that smeared custard over the Crown Jewels. Now they’re “redistributing” stolen food to food banks - and congratulating themselves for it. It’s not charity. It’s organised theft. It won’t hurt the CEOs they claim to target - just ordinary staff, shoppers and communities. Full article below 👇

Wow, I’m speechless. British left shoplift en masse, walk out the stores, post it on social media and fear no consequences? Where is the police, where are the courts? Is Britain on its way to become a lawless country?
