100 years ago today, Robert Goddard launched a ten foot rocket from a cabbage field in Massachusetts. It flew for 2.5 seconds. It went 41 feet high.
Every liquid fueled rocket engine that has fired since, every Saturn V, every Falcon 9, nearly every spacecraft humanity has ever built traces back to that moment.
They called him crazy. They said rockets couldn't work in a vacuum. He kept building.
100 years later, humans are reusing rockets and @AstroForge we're working to land on asteroids. Happy birthday to the entire industry. Let's keep going.

There are ALOT of people misreading this situation.
He is not asking out of weakness (as people are saying), he is asking to see if NATO countries will act in their own self interest.
Even if the actual war is already over effectively. He is testing the NATO structure.
