@VFXSoldier I just kinda wonder why the pilot spends more time outside the jet climbing around than in it just to fly backwards. Of course if the cockpit kept dropping off the robot I would jump outta it too.

VFX supervisor notes: why does super awesome transformer jet require pilot to go from the cockpit to jump out of the emergency exit to a redundant cockpit while the previous cockpit just goes offscreen? Is that a requirement from the toy company so parents have to buy 2 jets?!

@Oddernod I think I saw Mojo doing a $100 discount for adopters. It sucks what's happening to Animate but thankfully there are options outside of Adobe for good software. I know several people who are loving it. I'm not currently a CA but it would probably be my buy.

Sure wish that new Apple Creator Studio had a lightweight vector-based character animation tool after today.

@ABAOProductions @cfryant Has there been any examples of AI footage that actually had fast paced action in it? Everything seems to be on a slow dolly with methodical movement.

Here’s the thing… Every shot looks great - On its own. But as a whole it still feels like AI. I think that people are also just expecting more from someone who has directed with a lot of nuance. Also, because it’s made with AI, people are just gonna get angry and be hypocritical of anything made with it. I think it’s actually a great way to revisit history if you can do it accurately.

IDK what everyone's deal is here, I think it looks fantastic. They clearly spent a lot of time on this.

@Oddernod None of the characters have any "weight". It's like they're all kind of floating.

Am I the only one who feels like all the genAI video still looks like melted crayons? Is that baked in at a core level or is it a training/computational limitation that will be "solved" at some point? I have a motion smoothing level of aversion to it every time I see something.

@eyedesyn Is there an AI tool to generate 3D model meshes? Just wondering if they've gone there yet instead of this "finished image stuff". This is decent for conceptualizing or mood boarding but neither of the characters possess any "weight" it's like they float instead of walking.

Trying to be less anxious when I see AI announcements like this and I'm trying to think about things more constructively. No one is going to be using raw end results like these for client gigs. Clients give revisions to even the top artists and studios so raw outputs just ain't gonna fly. It's way more likely we use AI as we do with premade assets from places like TurboSquid and KitBash, and use preset materials and shaders. Well, I think that's where AI hype rubber meets the road. It can generate all these different pieces that artists can then mash up to make something unique, basically using AI as a super powered asset library. It's like having access to every color of paint and paintbrush imaginable, but you're not going to just use the paint right from the tube. You're going to still still need the artist's hand to actually blend colors together and...you know...paint the thing.

@dereklwalker @v_praveen I'm trying to come up with a metaphor for this that involves something deep fried. You can deep fry tofu in the shape of a chicken but deep fried chicken it does not make. Something like that but my body is full of biscuits and gravy and it makes my mind not think well...

@Arcane_Motion @Stuz0r An excellent metaphor! I might add that your car is also sometimes going through constant revisions thanks to the client. Sometimes it's a sedan, sometimes a coupe, sometimes it loses it's cupholders halfway through the journey so you have to drive with one hand....

@Stuz0r The crazy part is we're still working with clients throughout like nothing happening. It's like driving your car, then looking out the side window and seeing an Inception style road curling up next to you, but you still gotta get to work on time.

Maybe it's just me, but I feel like a lot of us artists are just sitting here with our heads spinning at how fast and drastically the landscape of our careers has changed in the past few years.
