One could make the case that, as much as it was intended to show off the “skill” of the FBI (don’t laugh) in addressing the evidence around the JFK assassination, another compelling reason for the establishment of the Warren Commission was to head off a thorough investigation by the State of Texas. While Texas A.G. Waggoner Carr issued a report on the assassination that more or less rubber-stamped the Federal probe, a truly in-depth, state-level investigation simply never happened. Why?
