Avengers Doomsday/Secret Wars speculation Post: Got a theory on Avengers Doomsday/Secret Wars RDJ will be the Infamous Iron Man variant and still be Tony Stark but be one from another universe or a version resurrected from Endgame with the scarring.

🕵️How about a Friday round of "Digital ID Whack-a-Mole"??? 🔨🐁 🚨Illinois House passed HB5511, the Children's Social Media Safety Act yesterday, 82-27. HB 5511 forces operating systems to collect your age and broadcast an age-signal to any app or platform that requests it - and they must request it to comply with the law. Any device that runs an OS will be pulled into this system - so basically that's every single device - from smartphones to desktops. 🧵

When people are rooting for the AI Bubble to pop, so they can go back to making "original art" of someone else's trademarked characters for $15-$250 commissions. Or so the price of ram for their $69-$99 video games to go down... Keep in mind they either don't realize they are rooting for complete economic collapse and financial carnage... or they don't care so long as their hobby slop is protected... Because what is at stake is America's dominance in AI because make no mistake, China isn't going to slow down and their national sentiment is Pro AI and they outnumber us more than 3:1... So this is happening, its a matter of whether Americans profit or lose from it at this point. And if the bubble pops, it will barely squeeze the elites, but it will crush the working class, middle class and poor without question, and inconvenience or stall people who worked their whole life to finally be upper class or middle class. And it will destroy every state pension fund... Wipe out the tax base of most states that give the most generous entitlements. It would usher in so much economic carnage and destruction that it would make the 2008 collapse, look like summer camp by comparison.

Prediction for the Masters of the Universe movie — It’ll be a decent movie that will underperform because of stupid sh*t the actors said leading up to its release. (And also Jared Leto. He seems to curse every movie he’s in.) See also: Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves.

@usipsorg @XJosh Sadly, the age of anonymity on the internet is probably over. Just like people have been saying for decades, it will be taken away in the name of “security”. The only people that will be able to stay anonymous will have to unplug from everything completely.

@usipsorg There's another thing that I haven't seen anyone mention. Who controls the age verification API has a huge leverage. Do you remember when Musk turned off Ukraine's access to Starlink when they tried to counterattack Russia? This law opens up a similar possible scenario.

In my new interview with Andy Weir, he clarifies his position on "social commentary": ANDY: “I’m not trying to change society and I'm not trying to change anyone's opinion of anything. I firmly consider myself just an entertainer. I'm just writing stories to entertain. I'm not trying to set your opinion or change your mind on anything. When you're done with one of my books, I want you to put it back on the shelf and say, "That was cool. I enjoyed reading that..." "I'm not here to solve a pessimism epidemic. All I can do is just be me. I'm not pessimistic. I think humans are really awesome. I think technology is really awesome because technology is then put into the hands of humans who are awesome." "People are afraid of AI, but AI can do things no human can. I'm like, "So can a forklift." If I give you a hammer, you could build a house or you could murder someone. There's nothing about the hammer that does it. And most people use hammers to build houses." "So I'm not afraid of technology because I'm not afraid of my fellow humanity. I'm optimistic that way."

Project Hail Mary writer Andy Weir on social commentary in books: "I dislike social commentary. Like… I really hate it. When I’m reading a book, I just want to be entertained, not preached at by the author. Plus, it ruins the wonder of the story if I know the author has a political or social axe to grind. I no longer speculate about all possible outcomes of the story because I know for a fact that the universe of that book will conspire to ensure that the author’s political agenda is validated. I hate that." "I put no politics or social commentary into my stories at all. Anyone who thinks they see something like that is reading it in on their own. I have no point to make, and I’m not trying to affect the reader’s opinion on anything. My sole job is to entertain, and I stick to that." "To that end, I also don’t talk about my personal political opinions publicly. I don’t want readers to even know, honestly. I don’t want that in the back of their minds as they read my stuff." Is this why he has the #1 sci-fi movie in decades?

The solution to the theatrical problem is very simple. Extend the time before it goes to streaming. Make it 180 days. 6 months. If you don't watch it in theaters you won't get to see it for a long time. Studios have devalued their product by letting the consumer know there's no urgency. They're going to see it for "free" later. They've cheapened the business into a buffet and violated basic supply and demand.

The full text for HR 8250, the proposed Federal law which would require all Operating Systems to implement Age Verification, has just been made publicly available. It is short, poorly written, clearly not at all thought out, and almost entirely devoid of specifics. Some key points: - The bill does not specify how age verification would work at all. It states that the Federal Trade Commission would have 180 days to specify the exact mechanism and requirements for Age Verification within the Operating Systems. - The Federal Trade Commission would also specify data storage protection requirements as well as requirements for how the Operating System must provide access to collected user data. - This bill would apply to ALL Operating Systems. Everything from Windows to Linux to embedded systems. Yes, even to a smart refrigerator. The “Operating System” definition is incredibly broad. - The law will be considered in effect 1 year from the date it is enacted. - Violations of the law will be handled under the Federal Trade Commission Act. - It is given the “Short Title” of “Parents Decide Act”. congress.gov/bill/119th-con…

Fine. Just let WBD go bankrupt and then see how much contraction and loss of jobs you get. You were mad when it was Netflix, madder yet it's Paramount. So let them have nothing. I'm sick of their whining. variety.com/2026/film/news…

A new bill called the Parents Decide Act was introduced this week. The bill would require operating system companies such as Apple and Google to verify users' real age when they first set up a phone, tablet, or computer in the US. This “would” stop children from lying about their age to bypass restrictions on apps, social media, and AI platforms. A verified age and parental controls would then apply across the entire device. The full bill text has not been released yet.

Torching the @InternetArchive & the @WayBackMachine is akin to burning the Library of Alexandria and wiping our digital memory - at a moment when media corporations & the government want to hermetically seal us in a bubble of their propaganda. We can't let this happen.

There's never been a generation where so-called Geeks weren't laughed at. Until we invented something that completely changed the world. Then all of a sudden it was cool.
Bounding Into Comics@BoundingComics

Remember when we laughed at kids that dressed like this? They really can't make up their minds with this movie. No wonder everyone hates it. Lobo will be the only "good" part of the Supergirl movie.

@Grummz Devs gave me a key to review it prior to release and then I purchased it in support. It was a great Trek game. Just wish once they phase something out we had a physical copy and didn't need the Internet to play. But that's when people will inevitably raise the sails.

The license expired, and now the game is gone. The game, created by ex-Telltale talent, had licensed the Trek IP for only 3 years. The game is now delisted, while current owners can still re-download. But for how long? There's really nothing stopping companies from doing this. That's why initiative like Stop Killing Games are important.
