Shri Nitin Gadkari ji had promised INDIA petrol would be available at Rs 15/ litre, once blended with Ethanol! We understand he gave "big talks" but atleast give us a discount on petrol blended with Ethanol & not charge ₹160/ litre for pure petrol. Also: EV policy?

Mr Gadkari here’s the another example for you!! Sad to see a Defender being towed away! Having driven one, I can say these vehicles are extremely sensitive to fuel quality. Ethanol-blended fuel has only made things worse.
Just like EVs suffer from poor charging infrastructure, premium fuel options like Speed and XP100 are almost non-existent in most hilly regions.
Even before E20 fuel, Defenders would sometimes develop misfires and odd engine behavior on regular fuel; now the problem is even more noticeable.
People spending ₹1.5 crore on a vehicle shouldn’t have to worry about whether the next fuel station will leave their car running properly or stranded on a flatbed.
This is the result of poorly planned fuel policies introduced without ensuring proper infrastructure, fuel quality consistency, or real-world testing.
Absolutely disappointing that a premium vehicle ends up being towed because the ecosystem around it isn’t ready! 😌

The effects on engine and mileage is crystal clear. That's why they don't want to release the report.
In fact automotive magazines and journalists are also instructed to keep their mouth shut.
Just need to go to a local work shop and ask. They'll tell the real story of one of biggest scams pulled out on ordinary Indians.

Why don't I have the option to buy fuel without ethanol at petrol pumps?
If the government wants, it can charge different taxes on different fuel grades.
But why am I being forced to buy a mixed product when my vehicle is not compatible even with E10 or E20?
Why am I forced to buy something, I did not choose, using money that I earned and already paid taxes on?
Or you have any internal setting with Nitin Gadkari on the Income being generated on selling a blended product to citizens?

A policy affecting 140 crore people; signed at 8PM, announced at a press conference the next morning.
No White Paper. No Parliamentary debate. No public consultation. No independent impact study.
Just a minister, a pen, and a family business waiting on the other side.
Let’s talk about what this “policy” actually is:
→ Son Nikhil’s company Cian Agro: ₹18Cr → ₹523Cr revenue in one year
→ Their stock: ₹37 → ₹638. A 2,184% surge; while “the file” was being drafted
→ Son Sarang: Director at Manas Agro. Also in ethanol. Also quietly booming.
Father writes the regulations. Sons hold the equity.
And we’re supposed to call this a “national dream.”
In any functioning democracy, a minister with direct family financial interests in a sector CANNOT unilaterally regulate that sector.
That’s not politics, that’s a constitutional principle.
Where is the Lokpal?
Where is the Prime Minister?
Where is the Parliament?
The dream isn’t about ethanol.
The dream is about a country where accountability has been fully, quietly, abolished.

Regarding motorcycles, Hero MotoCorp—which accounts for three out of every five motorcycles sold—has launched two flex-fuel models capable of running on 100% ethanol. Following this, companies like Toyota, Suzuki, MG, and Hyundai will launch 100% ethanol-compatible vehicles within the next month and a half. Thus, ethanol will serve as a viable alternative to petrol. People used to laugh when I spoke of this dream, and some friends even criticised it...Soon, we will launch a pilot project in Nagpur featuring a hydrogen pump and two hydrogen-powered buses. The public will be able to ride these hydrogen buses, which will be powered by green hydrogen extracted from water using an electrolyser. That day is now near.”

Right now, the best advice I can give you as an automotive journalist is to stop buying new cars and bikes, until this #ethanol mess is sorted out. OEMs are too scared to say anything to the government, so this will be one way of pressurising them as well.

Replies to this post indicate that something sinister is going on.
The data doesn't lie. A "marginal" 6% (as claimed by the govt) efficiency drop on E20 doesn't turn into a 30% to 50% mileage disaster for everyday drivers.
Are OMCs secretly dumping way past the legal 20% limit? With the recent push toward E30, it feels like consumers are being forced to use unvetted, high-ethanol blends on engines strictly built for E10 or lower.
Widespread vibrations, ruined fuel injectors, and halved mileage show that we are paying premium prices for fuel that is actively destroying our vehicles. We need independent nozzle-level testing NOW.

Jayanagar will turn into Indiranagar within 5 years.
Most of the old houses in many blocks are empty or for sale. Reason the Mileninal and Genz generation of those families are settled abroad. Older parents who used to stay now doesn't prefer Bengaluru choas rather they prefer peaceful villages for their retirement life.
Thats where they sell to builders who pay hefty resulting commercial space, cafe and even office space are coming up for startups!!
