@LambdaGen The question is why not Sony? Microslop? Epic? They sell (in parts) the same games. May it be that the Publisher already needed to buy the licences? If some lawsuit is fake and made up just to cause damage than clearly this one.

Another week, another Valve lawsuit, now by Performing Right Society for allegedly using its members' musical works "without permission". They claim Steam titles (Forza, FIFA/EA FC, and GTA) incorporate PRS members' works and blame Valve for never obtaining a license for its use

@KillerPigeon its been a pleasure work with you i think you are a great host and caster!!! I only want to say that socials are good for many things but also a big risk, he did a mistake and because of that mistake he was kicked from the biggest event in aoe4, because someone posted it on reedit, we all make mistakes. He should not make that mistake? yeah for sure, if you want context you can check yourself on reedit, i do not want to post myself. We are losing in age of empires franchise someone that gave alot for the game and not only in aoe4, reminder he was the great host in The Garrison!!!! Well good luck mate, im sad to see you go.

@pereshark “Before providing reasonable means” is definitely vague! And clearly different parties have different opinions on what qualifies as reasonable. That’s a solvable vagueness.

@TheZTarget @FukkkkTwatter @Dexerto Minimum should be expiration date instead of telling "any time we want to". That is something SKG supports too though obviously it isn't main goal.

@FukkkkTwatter @Dexerto You're right 💯. But if I were in their position, I'd argue to lawmakers that the real solution is simple: clarity. Just be upfront about it. Yes, the game might be “killed” in a few years. If people still choose to buy it — and let’s face it, they probably will — that’s on them.

@Khen_na_ @DjinnBartimaeus @Pirat_Nation Since when buying a game from your store is called stealing? No one is telling someone what to do. Person can choose whether or not to develop game and sell it. Business is only required to follow laws when selling something although doing more may be good for business.

@rodrigolj @accursedfarms ^based on discord message at least. If he said elsewhere then it is just his speculation. More likely scenario is someone troll did it without any connection to skg. Organizers or people part of movement are small group vs everyone else who have talked about him

@rodrigolj @accursedfarms Ross has never said people to attack PirateSoftware(look at his new and older video but this should be obvious to you without them too). Also while PirateSoftware is not reliable person about SKG given his stance, he never said he was swatted by SKG.

I was given some stats about previous EU initiatives that passed and how many signatures were discarded. It looks like the low end was about 100k and the high end was about 250k. I suspect we'll be closer to the high end, so every legit signature helps.

@hellokolla @accursedfarms it doesn't check at time of signature if id number, name or address are valid so using fake id(crime) is possible. some do to troll organizers by making it feel like it passed when it didn't or someone who doesn't understand they cannot help by doing so.

It's probably not many, but I've been given a couple reports that there have been claims of non-citizens spoofing signatures on the EU initiative. A reminder this is a government process and that's considered a crime and would probably get reported to Europol or Interpol.

@hoytehablode @accursedfarms It doesn't check the passport ID, you can use your data to sign as often as you want. Everything will be checked once the timelimit is reached. At least there should be a check for valid ID as soon as you enter it. Because atm. everyone can sign it with fake data.

The site says we have cleared 1 million signatures! I hate being like this, but there's a chance a significant number of them aren't real. That means we have to keep signing in overdrive mode to make up for them! I'll have a video on this later today. eci.ec.europa.eu/045/public/#/s…

@Structed @DRJuicybear @PirateSoftware @offbrand_games Review bomb happens because game or publisher did something players hate, nothing wrong in it. If there is off-topic review bombing detected, steam removes or ignores them for % as you know. Also pretty sure anything pirate is getting is due to dramatubers coverage and not SKG

I am no longer working at @offbrand_games. People were attacking all of the games we were publishing and trying to mass review bomb them. You can dislike the things I say but this kind of behavior is unhinged. Learned a lot there, accomplished a lot, hope they succeed regardless. Love those dudes and loved working with them. Hope they keep cooking.

@Jokerister @PirateSoftware @offbrand_games It is his own game that is bombed. Game in 2nd picture had couple negative reviews and some deleted which led to 90 positive reviews being given. if there is a lot review bombing, steam will remove them anyway withing days.

@PirateSoftware @offbrand_games I don't honestly see any review bombing on steam, maybe on some social media platforms there are more attention and hate coming to @offbrand_games, but I would understand it better if there were actual review bombs on their games, not mean comments on X or reddit of all places.

@PirateSoftware While I don't agree with your points, would you be more inclined about initiative if it only affected AAA studios? Because usually there are leeway or exclusions for smaller guys in many EU regulation, even in GDPR (more is coming in reform too).

Been reading through all of the posts against me over my stance on the Stop Killing Games initiative. Tons of people calling me a liar or that I misrepresented the initiative. Also lots of content creators dogpiling on this to get their pound of flesh. Lets dig into what I actually did and said. I put out two videos on August 6th 2024 and August 7th 2024. These videos are linked at the bottom of this post. Many people have not watched them and are just calling me a liar or attacking my character. Give the videos a watch, read the initiative itself, make a conclusion that you aren't copy pasting from social media. Monetization on these videos is disabled so no this is not some ploy to increase revenue. I just care about this subject and have rightful concerns as a person working in this space. In the first video. I go through what an initiative is, how it's not law, and how it's a starting point for this entire process. This helps people understand that this is to start the conversation for change and can adapt later. I then go through the initiative and some of it's goals from the official page for it. I then talk about the repercussions of them should they be implemented. As written all games need to be left in a "Functional Playable State". Next I bring up The Crew and walk through the business around it, the sequels, and the size of the player-base at time of sunset. I did this because it was called out by this initiative as an example of publishers destroying a game. I also harshly critique Ross Scotts wording in his videos because they disparage the lawmaking process and lawmakers which doesn't benefit players or this movement in any way. In the second video. I talk about potential scenarios where a studio could be abused if the initiative was implemented as written. It adds new paths for abuse and that needs to be discussed to help hone this initiative into something that would do good without doing harm. I then explain that very few people in the game development space can actually discuss this from the other side due to fear of losing their jobs. A studio is much safer in silent dissent then they are discussing the drawbacks of your ideals. The recent attacks on our games is obvious evidence of this. To recap. My main issue with this initiative is that it is broad in it's approach to change the industry and the exact language of the initiative, not the FAQ, requests that all games stay in a "Functional Playable State". This is not feasible for all games at a technical level and could potentially restrict developers from making online-only games like MMOs, MOBAs, and User Generated Content games in the future. That list is not exhaustive and it doesn't matter if you do or don't like those kinds of games. Effectively this has the potential to restrict future developers from making kick-ass experiences because it locks a weight on their designs. Even though this is an initiative that can change in the future this goal is core to the mission and deeply disruptive so it needs to be called out. To clear up some disinformation about my character. I left AAA in 2016 because I fucking hate how the industry is now and prefer indie entirely. I don't like Blizzard or I would have stayed working there. That's why I quit. That's the entire point. Fuck AAA and what many studios have turned games into. Outside of that no I am not financially supported by live service games. I make a single player RPG and am the Director of Strategy for offbrand games. In that position I am paid MINIMUM WAGE by my own decision because I care about games succeeding not about profiting off of them. To further this the games we're publishing are all playable offline anyway because their gameplay loops are not only based on inter-player interaction. Not all games are like this and not all games can be like this. No, I have not been running away from discourse on this I talked about it for around 8 hours on stream yesterday. I never took my videos down and I have not discussed the initiative in the 10 months it's been since I released those videos. My internet also died mid-broadcast so I had to go live again 30 minutes later. Thanks ISP. For those that will scream HE'S DOUBLING DOWN. Yes I damn well am. I give a shit about this initiative and what it means for games, developers, and players in the future. To finish out. Just because I don't support this doesn't mean you should blindly follow me in that just because I said pretty words on the internet. You also shouldn't blindly bash me because some other creator said to. Watch the videos I put out, read the initiative, decide for yourself. Apply critical thinking and don't outsource it to others. As always. Stay Frosty. First Video: youtube.com/watch?v=ioqSvL… Second Video: youtube.com/watch?v=x3jMKe… Minimum Wage Proof: x.com/PirateSoftware…

@PirateSoftware @pizzaguylol @raguna36 I wouldn't say it is only thing stated on objective section. Whole thing itself also has character limit which you need to consider. Annex takes a lot room. You don't need worry about communication as billion dollar firms will do it for you if there is ever legal process.

SKG only states that a game needs to be kept in a "Functional Playable State" which means the developer would need to do what I described in the post you are responding to. My argument is that this is technically infeasible and dangerous to propose to legislators if they aren't deeply familiar on the subject. I don't leave shit like this up to chance and would rather communicate the issue.
