With Raddysh off the board and John Carlson now the undeniable top defender on the free agent market, I wouldn’t be shocked to see a team step up and give him a contract that takes him to age 40. I really wouldn’t.

As expected, Toronto’s previous trade with Philadelphia appears to have been a cap move to take a run at a big name. That’s a hefty extension for a 30 year old defender, but Raddysh had a hell of a season in 2025-26.

Confirming that Toronto and Tampa Bay are finalizing a sign-and-trade involving pending UFA Darren Raddysh. Hearing that it will be an eight-year deal with an AAV in the 8's (north of $8 million).

So the #NHLBruins trade Andre Gasseau’s rights to move up 16 spots in the fourth round, and add an extra 5th round selection as well. Nothing earth shattering, but good value for a player who was not in the Bruins plans.

The time to acquire Trocheck was 3-4 years ago. He’s still a very effective player, but the problem is, the #NHLBruins already have about 4 guys who can be a 2C. They really don’t need another one unless Sweeney can pull a rabbit out of his hat and dispose of Elias Lindholm

@WickedWrister_ I could see Zacha being moved if the right deal came along, but trading him for draft capital would fly in the face of what they’re trying to do (competitive retool). It would have to be a hockey trade. McTavish is an interesting idea as they try to get a bit younger.

@WhatsBruinBlog I would really hate to lose Poitras but as you said nobody has a stranglehold on things so here we are. Hagens should be on the opening night roster imo. Zacha may end up as trade capital who knows, we shall see.

@hibruinationpod Gotta give him a shot. Boston isn’t a contender yet. It’s frustrating watching guys like Eyssimont, Steeves and Kuraly eat up ice time instead of developing young players who could potentially be a part of the long term plan.

@WickedWrister_ There’s definitely a chance. The Bruins have a dilemma at center, which is that they have so many of them but none of them are definitively locked in anywhere. Zacha, Minten, Lindholm, Hagens.. does Poitras make the team? Someone’s going to have to play wing.

John Carlson is still an effective player, most likely a fit for a ready-made team. He won’t be cheap. I don’t see the #NHLBruins as a destination unless he is okay with spending the tail end of his career playing a big role on a team that is still in a transitionary period.

@WhatsBruinBlog I missed that comment. I feel like they are going to try and trade him this off-season anyway. I wonder if they'll take a shot at offering Zacha for Larkin as a starting point (not a one-for-one)? Detroit will want roster pieces back for Larkin.

At draft combine, Boston GM Don Sweeney told @globejimmcbride that he’d likely find a trade partner for Andre Gasseau — taken 213th in 2021, but en route to free agency this summer. We’ll see where it goes, but possibility San Jose gets him and signs him.
