@TheDemSlayer Jesus: What's A Bible? I was talking about a Church. How many times do I need to go over this?

Peter: “Rabbi, are you a Catholic?” Jesus: “What is a ‘Catholic’?” 🤣🤣🤣 My thoughts exactly! 1st Century followers of Jesus Christ (Yeshua Messiah) were virtually ALL Jews and they referred to themselves as followers of “The Way.” The Apostle Paul said: “I am a JEW, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city. I studied under Gamaliel and was thoroughly trained in the Torah of our ancestors. I was just as zealous for God as any of you are today. I persecuted THE FOLLOWERS OF THE WAY to their death, arresting both men and women and throwing them into prison, as the high priest and all the Council can themselves testify.” — Acts 22:3-5 “I admit that I worship the God of our ancestors as A FOLLOWER OF THE WAY, which they call a sect. I believe everything that is in accordance with the Torah and that is written in the Prophets, and I have the same hope in God as these men themselves have, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.” — Acts 24:14-15 Reject Catholicism. Become a follower of “The Way.” How? Read, study, know, and understand the Holy Bible for yourself. Live in obedience to the Commandments/Torah of the Living God. Do justly, love mercy, and walk humbly before God. Fear God and work righteousness in this world. THAT is being a follower of THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. Everything else is a path of Satan designed to lead you to hell. Don’t be a fool and go down any of those roads.

@beetle67a @Xtopher_Uzo Umm, at the end the day, no one can rationally admit that the world is "better" or "worse" than it was 2000 yrs ago. Ergo, the sacraments have not materially improved world in 2000 years, meaning they are impotent. Your position is irrational.

As a Catholic, do you believe that Jesus is truly present in the Holy Eucharist?

Catholics and Orthodox have LOST the plot! They have altogether become Pharisees, holding traditions of men over the commandments of God. The Gospel is Christ and His kingdom + nothing. The Christian does not stand before a council, a bishop, or a tradition on judgment day. He stands before Christ. Any authority that stops pointing to Christ and starts requiring submission to itself has become a rival. Christ does not share his mediatorial office with anyone. The church is not the Savior’s replacement. It is supposed to be the Savior’s witness. A true church leads you to Christ. A false church makes itself the gatekeeper to Christ. At the end of the day, God made us with our own mind, conscience, and will. A true servant of Christ knows this. He does not seek to control another man’s conscience, to input himself between you and Christ; but to patiently and loving aid it. The goal is not dependence on men, churches, or tradition. It’s in the power of God that changes you into righteous works, and faith, and preparation for the kingdom to come. Matthew 11:28 — “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” John 14:6 — “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” 1 Timothy 2:5 — “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” Acts 4:12 — “There is salvation in no one else…” John 5:22–23 — The Father has given judgment to the Son. 2 Corinthians 5:10 — “We must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.” Romans 14:10–12 — “We will all stand before the judgment seat of God… each of us will give an account of himself to God.” Colossians 2:8–10 — Don’t be taken captive by philosophy or human tradition; believers are complete in Christ. Hebrews 4:14–16 — Because Christ is our great high priest, we approach the throne with confidence. Hebrews 7:25 — Christ is able to save completely because he always lives to intercede.

@beetle67a @MilkToastOnRye I was just having fun with the post. I think in general we don’t get very offended when people differ from our beliefs. Obviously there are lines and sometimes those lines are crossed.

Restoration means recovery. If the LDS organization’s priesthood isn’t found in Scripture, and its holders CAN’T meet the requirements of the Aaronic (Ex. 28:1; Num. 3:10) or the non-transferable Melchizedek priesthood (Ps. 110:4; Heb. 7:24), it was not restored. It was invented.

Does God, all loving and all just, give those in modern times a pass if they believe in a watered-down gospel (or none at all) simply because they are a product of their time? Is there a different standard for post-Reformation people who reject the Sacraments but have a sincere (as far as they can tell) faith? These are some questions I wrestle with as I share the Catholic faith with those around me I’m no one to tell anyone where they stand in God’s eyes, but I do want them to experience Christ fully in His Church with the Sacraments because doing so has given me the peace and freedom I always looked for but never found elsewhere Pride too often drives evangelization. I’m as guilty as anyone May our desire for souls always come from a place of love and not pride

If your way of making the Novus Ordo more reverent is making it more like the Tridentine Mass…then just go back to the Tridentine Mass.

I care so little about everyone’s theory on whatever actually happened last night. I care about Holy Mass today. I care about continued conversion and genuine community with others in my local Catholic community. I want to climb the ladder of divine ascent every single day.

The comments on this post made me realize that a lot of so-called Roman Catholics on the internet are just low-IQ meximutts who hate the fact that Covenantal Protestantism is superior in every way. And I say this a Brazilian with Italian heritage.

It’s easier for me to rationalize a woman being an Evangelical than it is to rationalize a man being the same Watering down the Gospel in the way Evangelicals do is effeminate It takes cojones to be Catholic

@AnotherStam @MilkToastOnRye If you're speaking of Catholics, it is only hubristic and ridiculous on one logical condition. That being that we are *not* the one true church of Jesus Christ on Earth. Are you saying that yours is?

Met plenty. Nice people. I like them. Always have. Zero bearing on whether or not the doctrine and "history" are junk. You fundamentally say that of Roman Catholicism as the very basis of your religion. I take zero offense. What do I care if I know the truth? At least online I've run across the LDS "You hurt me, I'm offended" dynamic.

It's a question of severity, not a question of total presence or absence. You are making an epistemologically invalid assertion. I'm not saying you are wrong, I'm just not seeing the logical basis for you being right. There is nothing irrational about that. We live in the world we have and can't compare it to the would-have-been alternate world without sacraments. There is no *knowledge* to be had there.

@beetle67a @Xtopher_Uzo Your position is irrational. A) in the past there is evidence of killing, stealing, adultery, etc. B) today, there is evidence of stealing, killing, adultery, etc. Ergo, the world is basically the same & Christianity, with its sacraments, has offered no deliverance from sin.

@SubprimeBort @Memewhile321 And it's all an act of faith. "Where else can we go, Lord, you have the words of eternal life." Once the act of faith is made and the Eucharist is accepted, it all looks completely different, and arguments against it don't land. And dad gum it, you are happier.

@Memewhile321 The important nuance I never realized is that the Eucharist is not Jesus’ mortal Body and Blood, but the glorified, immortal one. That implication alone opens another treasure chest of theology.

Don't know why everyone rejects it. If I actually hear the possibility that I could actually be nourished by God, then I'm going to drop everything to look into that and open my heart to the positive case for that. I'm going to run right towards that, not away. I don't know why the knee jerk prot reaction is to shriek and run away and shout down every one who tries to explain it, and not seek out the very best positive defenses of it.
