@Mr_Husky1 Get a pre-nuptial agreement that preserves your sole ownership of the inheritance. That ought to be non-negotiable.

I’m about to get married, and my fiancé knows I have an inheritance that was left to me by my grandparents. It’s in my name only, and I’ve been saving it for years. Now he’s saying that before we get married, I should put the entire inheritance into a joint account so we can “start fresh together,” or he doesn’t think we should go through with the wedding. I’m 36 already and this is something my family worked hard to leave me. I’m torn between wanting to build a life together and feeling like I’m being pressured to give up something important to me. What do you think I should do? By isitmeaitah

@pickover If going back to an "informed" 10-year old meant that my children would not exist, that is an option I would not consider under any circumstances.

@ofer_rubin @nntaleb An IQof 276!? It is an idiotic assertion. I should know I have an IQ of 1000 (although I’m leaving off what base I’m using).

@nicksortor @HiltonHotels This is apparently one rogue owner of a seemingly minor property and not corporate policy. While it may make sense to avoid this Hampton Inn, boycotting every Hilton is an overreaction.

🚨 BREAKING EXCLUSIVE: I went into the Minnesota Hilton who “apologized” for banning DHS agents, and EXPOSED them for CONTINUING to ban DHS agents @HiltonHotels has decided they want the FULL BUDLIGHT treatment at this point. Hilton’s operator, Everpeak, STRAIGHT UP LIED in their statement yesterday which said they were “in touch” with DHS to accommodate impacted agents, and “do not discriminate against any individuals or agencies.” NONE of that was true. There was NO attempt to reach DHS agents to make it right, per Asst. DHS Sec. @TriciaOhio Even the FRONT DESK manager said he had spoken with the owner shortly before I walked in around 10:50pm, and confirmed the ANTI-DHS POLICY REMAINED IN EFFECT. REVOKE THEIR LICENSE, HILTON, OR IT’S GOING TO COST YOU DEARLY. YOU’VE BEEN WARNED. This is an INCREDIBLY dumb battle to choose!

@ZeeContrarian1 @financequant we spoke once before a long time ago and I don’t mean to throw you in the thick of it, but perhaps you can help, I can vouch for contrarian and that this isn’t a frivolous endeavour.

@nntaleb @EricTopol Autophagic dysfunction—both too much and too little—is characteristic of a number of diseases that have proven to be intractable; e.g., cancer and neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS.

Medical data alert. There is no evidence-based backing to such Attia-like recommendation of > .8 g (see @EricTopol). Too much protein hinders, among other things autophagy; episodic protein deprivation is present in many protocols (e.g. Valter Longo's).
Dr Paddy Barrett@Paddy_Barrett

The recommended daily allowance of protein is 0.8 grams per kg of body weight. This is the bare minimum. You should consume closer to a range of 1.8 to 2.0 grams of protein per Kg of body weight per day. Very important for preserving muscle mass. /10

Writing in 1979, science fiction author Gordon R. Dickson looked ahead to 2050 to describe the evolution of the programmable calculator into a general purpose tool that was the size of a typical handheld device. It was a powerful general purpose computer that had a built-in AI (Siri/Alexa) assistant, was integrated into the global data/communication network, supported voice and keyboard input, and had all of the PDA tools such as calendars and to-do lists. The only thing he missed was a touch screen; his device had a keyboard-screen configuration. He saw it as a computer-cum-phone rather than a phone-cum-computer, which is a trivial difference. calc.fjk.ch/library/thank_…

The thing with meaningful computation is that it demands a certain level of understanding. And the proper word is computation, not mathematics. I have seen too many cases of people who claim to understand the mathematics but who are incapable of performing the appropriate computations. One reason I use Mathematica in my courses is that it requires a precision beyond that of mathematical notation to perform useful work.

The difference between an authoritative scholar & a bullshitter is that the bullshitter needs to prove that he knows the subject, adding all manner of superfluous coverage & often missing the central point. This is the case with ChatGPT.
