everyone who is serious about automating work with agents needs to understand Chrome CDP and the shit-ass changes they made on version 136, which happened after the current knowledge cutoffs for claudes

@badcryptobitch yeah agreed, but hey now they have e2ee! and i guess some people could have assumed they always had it which is kinda bad idk but in the end e2ee flows can be annoying ux-wise so i understand not going with it as a default, especially from the start

OpenAI promises not training on your data if you are an entreprise customer or on one of the business plans. Otherwise, yeah, it trains on your data. But, they do have a SOTA model. Venice doesn't have that kind of pull. As a consumer, you are just using an overall inferior product unless it offers a meaningful form of privacy worthy of making these kinds of tradeoffs for.

@VictorTaelin i think the roi on just getting more ram is stupendous, at 16gb you can barely run the smaller models, leaving no space for kv and higher context, unless you quantize

So what's currently the best OSS coding model that can run on the base Mac Mini, to be used with Pi? Is there anything decent? Is it Qwen3.5-9B?

@badcryptobitch openai doesn't promise no-logs and in fact can train models on your data but i see your point. tbh their docs are kinda vague about it, but i don't think it's a permissionless network anyone can join as a provider, otherwise yes, it wouldn't make sense

No logs isn't meaningful even if Venice runs the models themselves. Why would anyone trust Venice over OpenAI? Arguably, since Venice is a "decentralized" protocol in which the nodes can be anybody, sending your prompts to these nodes is way worse than sending them to OpenAI. At that point, you should just run a local model.

for their "anonymized" offering i agree, it's essentially just a mixer for prompts but since prompts contain so much personal data it's arguably not a meaningful improvement for the "private" offering i understand they run the models themselves, so if no-logs is honored i take it as actually private but i also agree that simply slapping TEEs already improves their credibility so much they should have done it sooner, it's not as big of a tech lift as they insinuate

@hackerdocc No logs is not meaningful privacy for what Venice is as a product though. When it comes to AI, normies actually understand that everything they prompt is a privacy issue. This is very different than a VPN.

@CarrotApple123 @ReuelWilliams3 yea sure, giving them a painless death is worse somehow. but whatever mr(s?) carrot apple, live a good life, appreciate your eagerness to defend the animals, just maybe put your biases in check

@hackerdocc @ReuelWilliams3 Well yeah that's why people dont do it most of the time. You still gotta kill those free range animals. And halal is even worse, they purposefully kill the animal in a worse way just to satisfy their stupid religion.

Veganism is very obviously correct morally, emotionally, and environmentally. People are just so used to eating meat that the correct thing can’t possibly be right in their minds. There are clear historical analogies to all major moral leaps (abolitionism, women’s right etc)

@CarrotApple123 @ReuelWilliams3 eating after they die a natural death just doesn't make sense. they would likely be sickly and have bad meat yes, industrial-scale meat production usually sucks and outnumbers everything else, but your claim is overblown, there's free range animals, halal etc

@hackerdocc @ReuelWilliams3 I mean sure if you give an animal a nice life and only eat it after it dies naturally there is nothing wrong with that. But nobody does anything even close to that.

@hackerdocc @luisschwab_ @anpaure @inerati 10th gen support isn't as solid as earlier generations yet due to not having as much time fixing the bugs our exploit protection features uncover. There are some crashes with USB-C DisplayPort alternate mode and other things like that left to resolve for 10th gen Pixels.

@ReuelWilliams3 a lot of veganism is just idealistic. you stop consuming animal leather which is a sustainable durable good to use an industrial "substitute" made of plastic. some vegans don't eat honey, which is a perfectly fine cooperation with bees that doesn't hurt them in the least

i think under capitalism there's a lot of animal cruelty that goes into producing meat, sure i wouldn't say veganism is strictly more ethical. nature just exists and we are part of it. there are ethical ways to eat meat. animals dying and suffering is just material reality what is fucked up is that humans betrayed the evolutionary pact we formed with the domesticated species we eat. for the longest time it was a win-win situation for us and the domesticated species, it's not anymore and it needs to be fixed
