Thought the backlog and vetting finally pushed everything to 2027? Nope. H1B/H4 stamping slots are already popping up in Hyderabad for April, May, and June. The system never actually closes. It just delays the inevitable while Americans keep getting displaced. Cancel this program already.

It might affect shady body shops but if you look at data they aren't the biggest sponsors of H1B but American corporations are.
Entry level jobs are anyways going to be automated with AI and moved to India.

The H1B wage level hike doesn't do anything. Some not so smart racists think H1B is "cheap labor" based on spurious data to delude themselves. Folks directly employed by US corporations are already getting paid at or above the new wage levels.

Sorry, I have zero sympathy when Iranian groups were at the forefront of blocking immigration reform for high-skilled immigrants, explicitly arguing it would let Indians jump the line. In 2019 and 2020, they got Dick Durbin to block the bill.

These are F-1 students, who will not be able to roll to OPT, STEM OPT, or eventually H1-B in time unless this pause is lifted. These are young people who want to contribute to America; who are in school at places like Berkeley, Santa Clara University, and Stanford. Without lifting the pause, they will have to return to Iran in 60 days. We want these young, brilliant people staying and working in America, paying taxes in America and creating jobs here. While USCIS figures out the broader timing and implications of lifting the pause against affected immigrants, we request that the pause for students graduating in 2026 specifically be lifted. I'm happy to engage with whoever from your administration is best for this. Thank you.

As it turns out, ICE agents are vastly more pleasant to deal with than TSA usually is. Maybe it's because it's a new, temporary thing for them, maybe it's because the job is gentle and safe, and maybe it's because they're fit, capable, and confident, but the experience was 10/10.
