I’m excited to share that @soraschools has closed a $10M venture round—led by our existing investors @usv and @generalcatalyst—with new investors @Sparkmind_VC, Honeystone Ventures, and LearnerStudio. That brings our total raised to $31M. We started Sora six years ago because middle and high school felt stuck in the past. Most students were disengaged, unhappy, and ultimately unprepared for real life. While Sora has grown fast, that core problem hasn’t gone away. Now, thanks to AI, it’s becoming existential for society. Traditional school—lectures, memorization, tests—was built for a world where information was scarce and most work was routine. But that reality is fading fast. As AI commoditizes repetitive cognitive work, the leverage moves to what’s stubbornly human. That’s a different game. Trying to fix school by simply making it faster is like hot-rodding a Model T when the world demands supersonic flight. So, how do you create AI-empowered humans? What skills are most useful for this sci-fi future at our doorstep? Agency: turning intention into action without waiting for permission. Sensemaking: making progress when the problem is messy, and the path isn’t obvious. Navigating ambiguity. Storytelling: Verbally and visually communicating to earn trust, recruit collaborators, and move ideas into the world. Like it or not, AI is about to widen the gap between kids who can self-direct and kids who just follow instructions. The old signals—grades, polished essays, “completed” work—are getting noisier by the day. Families who get it will stop optimizing for content coverage and start optimizing for agency and real-world output. And once that becomes the AI-accelerated status game, the gap won’t be subtle. That’s why Sora Schools exists: an agency-first middle and high school where students tackle real challenges with peers, using technology and content as tools—not the primary goal. Every student graduates with a portfolio of projects they’re excited to share: proof of what they can do. And it’s built for flexible family life—learn online from anywhere, or travel between our partner campuses. If you share this vision and want your student prepared, please reach out. In 2026, we’re expanding our private schools, public school partnerships, regional microschools, camps, and after-school courses—there are more ways than ever to join the mission. Lastly, consider "following" to stay in the loop—big announcements coming soon!

@nickgraynews Drive 5 more minutes south and check out Padel Club Austin. Great international community and lots of tennis players making the switch to Padel.

I have been taking tennis lessons for the past few weeks and found a hack to get "free" private lessons for only $32 If a class with a tennis pro only has 1 person sign up, then it will convert to a free private lesson So I wrote a scraper to query all the class times, show the number of open spots, and alert me when there are 0 people signed up Then 30 minutes beforehand I book the class if there are still no signups The tennis courts are only 9 minutes from my house so I just drive over and get a "free" private lesson But I also give the instructor a $20 cash tip at the start of the lesson The last time I did this, I gave the guy $20 before the lesson and said "Hey, I need a lot of help. I appreciate you doing this as a private lesson. Here's a small way for me to say thank you." Then he gave me the best tennis lesson I have ever had My total cost is $32 for the class booking, plus $20 tip, plus the 19 hours it took me to write and debug the software that calls the booking software API endpoints

Just realized that since I'm going to be offline from August 20th to the end of the month, I should burn down my Claude Code usage. Time to spin up multiple sessions at the same time. Guess I'm going to be one of those offenders their new rate limits would catch.

@nickgraynews We did a small ceremony with parents then 3 parties over the following year (my family town, her family town, NYC where we lived). Was nice for folks to be able to join one or more while reducing travel and schedule pressure.

Lauren and I are in the thick of wedding planning and find ourselves gravitating towards a smaller, more intimate ceremony for immediate family Long weekend at a family home in Colorado with 12 people And then a larger reception a few months later with friends and extended family Married people: is this a good plan??

@stevehind @jeff_weinstein @usepylon the strongest alternative we've considered is based on ticket volume but the problem is that in B2B you have massive customers with low ticket volume

When AI agents take off — some form of them will — they'll need to access to SaaS applications (e.g. Linear, Canva, etc). What's good "agent pricing"? - Does an agent get one seat? - Charge per agent read/write? - Charge based on tasks completed? (Charge more for hard tasks?)
