@AugustCohen4 @DrewSav Democrats are just as mad now about ending segregations as they were when the Civil Rights Act was passed in the 1960's by Republicans.

Yes, it appears that still too many white folks in the South have not shaken their ancient hatred for Black people. I hate to be that guy but, speaking as a Jew, we Jews can relate! Anyway, love and solidarity to everyone joining, building, and sustaining the movement in the South right now. We are going to see better days.

The speed at which red states are moving to diminish Black voting power shows how Reconstruction was necessary and should never have ended.

@ColinAllredTX Football teams should boycott these states. There is no room for compromises or excuses. This is a war on black people. Stand tough.

This will all happen very quickly now. Tennessee just eliminated its only Black-majority district. Louisiana, South Carolina, Florida and others could follow. We’ve seen this before. But we won’t wait 72 years to come back. Congress must act. Protect the Voting Rights Act. Protect Black voters. Protect democracy. nbcnews.com/politics/2026-…

To be clear, Tennessee Republicans wouldn't be able to weaken the Black vote to help themselves if John Roberts' Supreme Court didn't allow it.

@GovPritzker Unfortunately, every single elected official is letting him get away with it. Elected officials have the power. That's why voters put them in. Simple.

First, Trump went around Congress to demolish part of the White House to build his gold-plated ballroom. Now, he’s hellbent on getting the project done any way he can—even if taxpayers have to foot the bill. HELL NO!

Yes, pledges are very common for privately funded projects like presidential libraries, museum expansions, charity galas, or infrastructure (e.g., via nonprofits). They commit future payments, often released in stages. For this White House East Wing ballroom (~$400M), the admin says it's fully covered by private donations through the Trust for the National Mall. The White House has named 37+ donors (Amazon, Google, Lockheed, etc.) who have contributed—not just pledged—with Trump claiming hundreds of millions raised as of late 2025. Construction is underway. Taxpayer funds are only for separate Secret Service security.

Republicans talk about the debt only to cover up the fact that they create the debt. Every Republican president for the last 73 years has increased the debt, and every Democratic president since Carter has decreased it. But the biggest increases have been under Trump—he borrowed from our future to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. Now, Republicans want to add another $70 billion in debt to pay for Trump’s ballroom and fund the atrocities of ICE and CBP. Republicans think that Americans won’t pull back the curtain to see who’s really making our children pay for tax cuts for billionaires.

So what's the plan now? Draft-dodger Trump and Ranger Pete were already on the hook for a new nuclear deal. Now they need to reopen the Strait of Hormuz too, all while negotiating with a more hard-line, extremist Iranian leader than the one in power before they chose to start this reckless war.

Gas prices hit another three-year high today. The last time they were this high, it was the result of one man's decision: Putin's choice to go to war with Ukraine.  The high prices we see today are also the result of one man’s decision: Trump’s choice to go to war with Iran.

The Trump Administration is targeting my friend, Rep. LaMonica McIver, for doing her job conducting oversight of an ICE facility in her district. Trump's tactic is to make us feel alone and isolated – but we're not. Building community makes us stronger. marieclaire.com/politics/congr…
