@guru_xd Exactly. This is such a non-debate I don’t even want to engage on it. LOTS to discuss/debate about Davies. This particular avenue, however, is just idiotic.

Worst part of the World Cup by far: When my kids play soccer in the yard now they blow pretend whistles to stop the game for hydration breaks, then yell “Let’s go to commercials!” Even worse, their fake ads are terrible!

@marcdweber I think we've seen more than enough evidence that 2 upfront doesn't work. For as well as the rest of the team is, that finishing in the final third is horrible I think we've generated the most chances, with the least amount converted A 4 3 3 wouls suit this team better

People dissecting this Canada defeat like it was a really winnable match we somehow screwed up -- obsessing over a couple players. We play this 10 times, WITH Davies and an in-form David, and everyone playing out of their skin, and still probably win 2 or 3 out of 10? (1/2)

@Moh_K64 Absolutely needed to score in the first half with all that pressure. Felt fairly likely that would come back to bite them. Hard to sustain that level and work rate for 90.

@marcdweber even if the defence was compromised, there's little we could do with Bonou being that good if we we're to take the lead, it would've have been during the 1st half, when Morocco was staggering

@fringe_canadian They played great! This happens more often than some seem to think? Underdog plays amazing for a while. Can’t sustain it. Better team adjusts and shows you how it’s done in the end.

@marcdweber So, you actually believe it was NOT winnable; never true. We had the wingers and backs to counter them. They performed. We had to have the midfield win the 50/50 battles and in balance theirs. We did. We had to finish chances. We didn't, finish and game tilts.

Lots of interesting comments here.. 1. The idea Morocco isn’t a great side is hilarious. 2. The idea that b/c we dominated the 1st half it shows this was super winnable IF only we’d had a lethal finisher… well, this is kind of soccer in a nutshell: ruthlessness trumps all.

Amazing to see a World Cup through my 7-year-old son's eyes. He's totally obsessed. Brings back memories of '86 for me — of Lineker, Maradona and Platini, and, for some reason, loving to say "Karl-Heinz Rummenigge" while running around the house. He gets to pretend he's Canada.

Julian de Guzman not pulling punches: On David: It's simply too much pressure for him. The stage was just too big for him. On Davies: MRI was cleared. Look at Bombito, he went all out for the national team. That's what you expect from Davies (just to get on the pitch) 🇨🇦

I also hate this idea that talking about specific players is scapegoating them. As long as it's fair criticism and not personal or outlandish, let's go. Debate. Discuss. Dissect. Do we want to be a football nation or not?

Morocco isn't obsessing over the Saibari injury because they are deep and won comfortably in the end. We need more quality players, and that is a long process. And this run is a critical part of that process. (2/2)
