@Moh_K64 Absolutely needed to score in the first half with all that pressure. Felt fairly likely that would come back to bite them. Hard to sustain that level and work rate for 90.

@marcdweber even if the defence was compromised, there's little we could do with Bonou being that good if we we're to take the lead, it would've have been during the 1st half, when Morocco was staggering

People dissecting this Canada defeat like it was a really winnable match we somehow screwed up -- obsessing over a couple players. We play this 10 times, WITH Davies and an in-form David, and everyone playing out of their skin, and still probably win 2 or 3 out of 10? (1/2)

@capnsnow 3-0 was a harsh scoreline on Canada for sure.

@marcdweber If we scored on Tani’s chance, the game is different. I’m not saying we win, but we don’t lose 3-0

@Beoufe Yup. Thankfully we don’t all agree. What a boring world that would be.

@n0rhymeorreas0n Ok. I said 2 or 3. Sure let’s go with 3 out of 10. Not sure how that’s “nonsense”. You think Canada is beating Morocco 4 times out of 10? I think some people don’t realize how good Morocco is? Or think that we can just regularly produce that first 45 but for 90? And be lethal?

@marcdweber 2 out of 10 with a fully healthy side sounds like nonsense when today betting markets had us at 30% with a beat up roster and the live odds got even tighter after 15 mins

@ChrisParry David wasn’t decisive today. Didn’t have that killer instinct. Interesting to see JDG say the occasion was too big. Not sure if that’s it, or just out of form (Qatar fun notwithstanding).

@fringe_canadian They played great! This happens more often than some seem to think? Underdog plays amazing for a while. Can’t sustain it. Better team adjusts and shows you how it’s done in the end.

@MeadeDude When did I say it was not winnable? Of course it was. Not finishing, and having the other team finish.. this is kind of what separates teams.

@marcdweber So, you actually believe it was NOT winnable; never true. We had the wingers and backs to counter them. They performed. We had to have the midfield win the 50/50 battles and in balance theirs. We did. We had to finish chances. We didn't, finish and game tilts.

Lots of interesting comments here.. 1. The idea Morocco isn’t a great side is hilarious. 2. The idea that b/c we dominated the 1st half it shows this was super winnable IF only we’d had a lethal finisher… well, this is kind of soccer in a nutshell: ruthlessness trumps all.

Amazing to see a World Cup through my 7-year-old son's eyes. He's totally obsessed. Brings back memories of '86 for me — of Lineker, Maradona and Platini, and, for some reason, loving to say "Karl-Heinz Rummenigge" while running around the house. He gets to pretend he's Canada.

Julian de Guzman not pulling punches: On David: It's simply too much pressure for him. The stage was just too big for him. On Davies: MRI was cleared. Look at Bombito, he went all out for the national team. That's what you expect from Davies (just to get on the pitch) 🇨🇦

I also hate this idea that talking about specific players is scapegoating them. As long as it's fair criticism and not personal or outlandish, let's go. Debate. Discuss. Dissect. Do we want to be a football nation or not?

Morocco isn't obsessing over the Saibari injury because they are deep and won comfortably in the end. We need more quality players, and that is a long process. And this run is a critical part of that process. (2/2)

If you put a 62% Davies in and 4 minutes into his appearance he sprints to chase a ball and blows his hamstring, then what?

Well that was a fun ride. Can’t question the fight, and tactics were spot on in a great first half. Just not deep enough yet in quality to withstand the loss of Davies, Flores, Kone — and doesn’t help David seems out of form. But, based on my kids, it’s been an impactful month!

Alphonso Davies speaks with OneSoccer's Kristian Jack about why he missed CanMNT 🇨🇦 vs. Morocco 🇲🇦 🎙️ "Jesse asked if I feel 100%... and I told him no, to be honest. "I don't want to be a burden on the team or on the pitch not giving my all... but it's an injury where you can't take any risk."

Since we have apparently elevated technology to a deity this World Cup, perhaps this was the Hair of God offside?
FIFA Media@fifamedia

According to the data provided by Connected Ball Technology housed within the @adidasfootball Trionda, the official match ball of the @FIFAWorldCup, it was proven that contact was made by Croatia's #20 Igor Matanović in the build up to the goal against Portugal, allowing the referee to correctly determine offside and disallow the goal.   IMU sensors housed within the Trionda ball are capable of determining any slight contact, displayed to viewers in the broadcast as a 'heartbeat graphic', and allowing officials an unprecedented level of data to make fast, accurate decisions.
