I saw early on, the best approach was to raise my own fund to back founders I fell in love with. i took a look at Medallia in particular since it's always cited as a problem loan. Here's a summary on it, it's "AI defensibility", and how different lenders like Apollo, Blackstone, and FS-KKR are marking the loan.

worked with them very fast-paced... the business was changing constantly but honestly, they were just ahead of their time look at all of the AI ad makers right now that are blowing up right idea, wrong time, wrong execution

He wants to kill QuickBooks with AI. Broke $1m revenue 2025, aiming for $16m this year. $16m raised. Rooting for Sasha and Puzzle

One threat he mentioned was that migration costs will decrease with AI. This means users' switching costs will decline. This could affect VMS's pricing power, but not change how hard replacing mission-critical platforms with deep integrations is.

Had a great discussion with a former Constellation Software ( $CSU.TO $CNSWF ) portfolio manager who now runs a VMS consolidator. His take on how AI will really impact vertical market software is not what most people expect:
