And a new study confirms that nearly 40 percent of its conventional produce is contaminated with PFAS forever chemicals. 🧪 Seventeen different PFAS pesticide residues were detected across 40 types of produce, including peaches, strawberries, plums, and grapes. Strawberries alone carried residues of ten separate forever chemicals. In many cases, individual pieces of fruit tested positive for four or more different PFAS pesticides at once. The fungicide fludioxonil, found on more than 90 percent of nectarines, plums, and peaches sampled, is an endocrine disruptor, a neurotoxin, and causes DNA damage. Regulators call it low risk, but the science tells a very different story. Governor Newsom has signed nothing. The California Department of Pesticide Regulation has imposed no restrictions. And the state currently registers and permits the use of 53 PFAS pesticides, with farms applying an average of 2.5 million pounds of them every year.
