@bunjavascript Incredibly thoughtful work to make package installs as fast as possible. It makes me wonder though why we couldn't just move to binary package metadata and use tools to update it (like we mostly already do with bun/npm)

Amazing article, this is what I love about engineering, *deeply* looking at the system to understand it and find bottlenecks! You mention that you're storing the lockfile items in the dependency order - what happens if someone accidentally breaks the order during the merge conflict?
