Australia needs an ambitious “Future made in Antarctica” policy to meet the challenges presented by our competition. • 2-3 new icebreakers (nuclear propulsion, AUKUS synergies*) • 1-3 new permanent stations. • 1-2 permanent 365 day runways. • 10-20 Retrofitted Ghost Shark XL AUVs for treaty complainant reconnaissance and environmental monitoring**. • A new polar aviation fleet including autonomous systems. • A new combined Australian Antarctic Academy that brings @BOM_au , IMAS, @CSIRO, AAD & AAPP under one roof and creates a pipeline of polar talent for ourselves and allies, the academy complex should synergies with expansions to shipyards and airstrips in Hobart, turning Hobart into the world Antarctic gateway and training hub***. Funding required could be largely offset by a combination of: 1. Reprioritisations. 2. Public-Private Partnerships. 3. Efficiency gains (Academy). 4. FMIA grants/manufacturing subsidies. 5. ROI. *AUKUS synergies would allow for civilian application of nuclear propulsion tech, additional orders for South Australian shipyards, would be Antarctic treaty compliant (propulsion only) and would likely develop further skills for Australian ship builders. **Expansions to the ghost shark program with @anduriltech would help solidify sovereign manufacturing and expand export markets for the tech to civilian industries. ***An Antarctic Academy in Hobart would be a boon to the state economy and position Hobart as a high tech hub for science output, students of allied nations with Antarctic interests could train there, creating another export market. In Antarctica, presence is sovereignty, let’s mark our footprint. Contact your MP, get this on their radar.

@bainbridger1984 @swd2 @BillKristol Oh, bull butter !!! Anytime you have a large population of ANY GROUP of mortals; there will be bad people in said population. The propaganda and lies from the felon; negates the millions of asylum seekers who worked, paid taxes, raised their family's and lived lawfully.

@RedEaglePatriot It's what's keeping our economy and population growing. The surge in migrants crossing the border under Biden was certainly a negative of his presidency, but it arguably helped stave off a recession under his watch.

@0bservationism @Gnu352 @ChrisEconomist @peter_tulip Egypt is an underdeveloped shithole. Try Tokyo, Shanghai, Mexico City or New York. I doubt you’ll find that people are any less happy than their rural peers. You’re talking utopian lefty drivel

Sydney is one of the great cities. People seem at ease, free, healthy, attractive, confident, open. There’s a freshness & energy which has gone missing in Europe & the US. It’s what America thinks it is but isn’t any longer.

@BabushkaThe @logyAussie @fabiodeuxbeer People who live regional are actually over represented in the mining workforce, yes, it’s a misconception that 100% of the mining workforce is fifo from inner cities.

@BauxiteMiner @BibasKfir East Asians are effeminate as it stands, I have no hope they won’t suffer the same fate, and their birth rates are even more depressed than ours.

@BibasKfir Looks like East Asia will be holding the candle of civilisation. Hopefully they won't allow the sob stories of the weak and effeminate to destroy their civilisation too

In just 30 years Western Civilization will cease to exist. It won't change, it will be gone. Just 100 years ago white people were 30% of the world’s population, today it’s 7% & falling. In four years Australians will be minorities as local born in the 20-40 year old parent cohort

@lockyp204 @cpinto @dolphinsands Indeed, they have such a stick up their arses, always comparing Melb to Sydney. They don’t realise that their need to compare proves the city sucks. I moved from Sydney to Perth to Melbourne, Melbourne is livable, sure, but it’s nothing special, it’s just cheap and has trams.

@cpinto @dolphinsands lol what, I live in Melb and have lived in Sydney, Melbourne is livable, but has nothing special about it, it’s just a city, no gorgeous harbour, no good beaches, no surf culture to speak of, nothing unique about it, just cheap and accessible.

@dolphinsands Nope, Sydney is like any other city, pretty boring and no one would miss it if it didn’t exist. There’s very little interesting to it. Melbourne on the other hand…

@hamishgryan @Gnu352 @ChrisEconomist @peter_tulip Modern megacities are amongst the worlds least happy places tf are you getting ur information from? The densest cities in the world are also amongst the most unlivable, such as Cairo, the most livable city on earth is Melbourne, which is much lower density comparatively.

@hamishgryan @Gnu352 @ChrisEconomist @peter_tulip The cities will grow, eventually they’ll suck up the last remaining high growth sources, then they’ll collapse and society will reprovincialised, it’s a cycle as old as civilisation.

@hamishgryan @Gnu352 @ChrisEconomist @peter_tulip If you put a species into a materially rich environment and their birth rates drop, that’s a sign of major issues, see the rat society experiment. This is why civilisation goes through cycles of densification and provincialiation, see Ancient Rome.

@hamishgryan @Gnu352 @ChrisEconomist @peter_tulip There is plenty of evidence, the ABS demonstrates clearly that cities have depressed birth rates. High density are not conducive to the human condition. Places like Cairo are not healthy for people, provincial towns tho, they are. Cities are for economic efficiency, not ppl.
