@wesbos I use @antennapod and @Podverse because they are free, open source, and probably available on F-Droid. But also available on Google Play etc. Anything that serves up ads is a no go. In this case a value-4-value app is the way to go personally.

@itsmattchan @joyofcodedev I was able to but only if I referenced the resource by its full path. I was unable to use aliasing like '$lib/assets/' since the type is then a Record<string, any> which doesn't match the string type requirement.

@mer__edith Those of us who were able to switch friends and family to Signal were able to do so because those users would not have to worry about multiple apps. Removing the ability to send both from the app will drive them away.

Of course we want Signal + privacy to be the default for everyone! And of course it feels bad to be pulling up an onramp to adoption! But we're building in an ecosystem we don't control, and looking at it all together this is the choice that made the most sense. 4/

TY for your thoughtful take. I hear you, and as a long time default Signal on Android user, I am also feeling this personally. This was not a quick or easy decision. SMS is both insecure, and on its way out. RCS is coming, which will cause increasing problems... 1/

@mer__edith @a_charlie_today @signalapp While that's a good point that shouldn't be Signal's concern. The use of it as an example of why to cut SMS out of signal seems like grasping at reasons.

@a_charlie_today @signalapp People often get charged for SMS. They don't get charged for Signal messages. Sending SMS when they think they're sending Signal messages can result in large surprise bills.
