NEWS: The Oklahoma Attorney General's office issued a rebuttal letter to the Texas AG's office's letter to the Big 12. Oklahoma AG Gentner Drummond says that the idea that Big 12 may not sanction its members is “facially absurd” and says Texas Tech’s actions have “constituted a shameful chapter in the story of college football.” Per me and @max_olson.

It’s extremely rare if not totally unprecedented for virtually everyone in college sports to agree on anything, but excluding Texas Tech, it’s happening now with Sorsby.
However, in fairness to the Texas Tech fans, I really wonder how many other fans bases would also fight tooth and nail to try and justify that an admitted gambling addict athlete, who bet on his team, should get a slap on the wrist and a pat on the butt after a two game suspension.

No one is saying they don’t care about their athletes. But there is no other player on the team TT would pursue as vigorously to fight for his eligibility on their team. Tech’s motive for supporting Sorsby is the $5M they paid him and he can help them compete for a natty. If this was a backup QB or any other starter, they wouldn’t provide this level of support.

They can do all they want to jell him with recovery and rehab as they should. Doesn’t mean they have to let him play. As they shouldn’t and they’re not being forced to play him by the injunction. Just that he’s with the team where he’s “safe”.

Kirby Hocutt brings up a great point. Dakota Allen screwed up, was dismissed from the team and had to play a year of junior college football. Sounds like Allen faced a more severe punishment than Sorsby.

Big 12 ADs have every reason to be furious about the Brendan Sorsby ruling. I absolutely hate it too.
But there's one big reason sanctioning Texas Tech is a fight the league shouldn't pick.

There is 100%, no doubt, that Texas Tech intends to play Sorsby this fall. You don’t take multiple opportunities to pony show through the mental gymnastics they have over the last 48+ hours just to tell the world you’re helping a kid.
That could change obviously, but right now, any Tech account that falls back on “they haven’t said they are even playing him” is trying to convince themselves that Tech cares about Sorsby.

Athletes can't bet on sports. Period.. If you want to bet on sports, stop competing as an athlete. This is a very simple concept.
