@Miss_Oggy_Noir @lv715 @HalfwayPost Pretty thin argument when that canon is extremely vague and Carrie’s with it many stipulations for deployment of the penalty of excommunication .
English

@megbasham The Trump issue aside, it would be interesting to hear your journey to stop taking birth control. My wife and I never used it either.
English

I have never felt a single bit of animus toward Catholics in my life. In fact, most of the time, I have felt really grateful for y’all because, doctrinally, you have held the line on the most important political issues to me, like abortion and marriage, better than many Protestant denominations.
Within this first six months of getting married, I quit taking birth control because of literature a Catholic friend gave me, even though I was a Protestant. But I am telling you all, you don’t realize how the Pope’s actions and the Vatican actions more broadly are being read by Protestants.
When it’s a matter of abortion, it’s generic statements directed at no one in particular. When it’s foreign policy, it’s extremely pointed and aimed directly at the United States and specifically Trump.

@megbasham There's a long history of anti catholic bigotry in 🇺🇸, it never went away.

@Miss_Oggy_Noir @lv715 @HalfwayPost And what about those Catholics that formally cooperate in the grave moral evil of procuring an abortion? Something Canon Law explicitly states is grounds for excommunication (can. 1398)?
English

@Catholic_Ham @lv715 @HalfwayPost He could be tried for formal cooperation in grave moral evil under just war doctrine. Pope Leo has already declared the war unjust.

@DHiddenness @PaulinusOfTrier I’ve seen corruption in the Church. It’s ugly, and I’m not some naive child. But we have had far worse. And God continues to guard our Church against the Gates of Hell both in her divine worship and doctrine.
English

@Miss_Oggy_Noir @lv715 @HalfwayPost I mean, it’s expected that a CANONICAL penalty will conform to the norms of the 1983 Code of Canon Law, regardless of who issues it.
English

@thepipecabin I have one like this. Nice big bowl for a long smoke. Only problem is you have to grab churchwarden pipe cleaners.

@DHiddenness @PaulinusOfTrier My deal is the vast majority of Catholics today are being sanctified by the Pauline rites. To cast into doubt their legitimacy is what got us TC. I want to hold onto the Old Rite, but not at the expense of throwing suspicion on legitimate Church authority.
English

Slow down.
As far as I'm aware there's no record on the specific question of the new penitential Rite in 67. I know there are records of the vote on the Mass itself, and IIRC only 1/3 of the bishop voted yes without reservation.
What they did vote down was the restructuring of the Liturgy of the word but that happened anyway.
If you want to re-cast these events, which have met with such long standing and universal problems in the Church, as an obvious success and gloss over the actual politics, again, you're not going to have a lot of agreement.
I think at this point, before I want to go any farther, I want to figure out what your *deal* is. Every online Catholic has some deal. Some hidden agenda or some undisclosed alignment...argument won't go anywhere until the deal is understood.
I frequently post my "deal" in my account.
What's your deal?

@timotheeology No offense, but where is the proof that GB Montini designed this with Masonic intent, or that his mother was a Mason?
English

This is the verified gravestone of Giuditta Alghisi Montini (1874–1943), Pope Paul VI's mother, in the cemetery of Verolavecchia near Brescia, Italy
Future Pope Paul VI HIMSELF designed the Masonic symbols (square, compass, triangle, and related tools) on her gravestone in 1943

@MethodMinistry And the Catholic Church teaches Christ is the head of the Church. So what?
English

@DHiddenness @PaulinusOfTrier Of course. But that didn’t change the consensus of the Bishops at the Synod nor the eventual actions of the Church. This wasn’t some ploy by Bugnini. This was a legitimate concern for souls.
English

@Catholic_Ham @PaulinusOfTrier Are you referring to 1967 and the Missa Normativa?
English

@deusimpera Officially? Who declared this, and where can I find this decree?
