This time 10 years ago, few would have predicted that Northern Ireland would be topping the United Kingdom's economic growth charts after the 2016 vote to leave the European Union reut.rs/4fR2Hla

@Lucius_Winslow @DerSchwarzBaron @mulronie We need to reclaim our Irishness. Naturally we moved away from it because of the troubles but that is exactly what Republicans wanted. Note the Ireland Forever sign outside the Unionist convention in the 1890s. What changed?

@BenPiggot @lionel_trolling Great essay. Irish Republicanism being something many of Americans have strong feelings about is quickly becoming one of the ways the past is a foreign country. Did you see Mamdani's answer when asked if he supports a united Ireland? Unthinkable for any NYC mayor since the 1840s!

@danielthemate If Ireland can’t guarantee safety of fans or players. Why are they co-hosting Euro 2028? Surely UEFA have to look into removing Ireland from being part of it.

To be clear, the higher ups know that it is not safe for the Israeli team to play here because people here are radicalised. It wouldn't be safe for Israeli fans or team. This is where we are in 2026 ireland. The media and political class rile everyone up with libels about israelis to justify racism against Israelis, and then move the match because they know the likelihood of violence is high. We played Qatar and Afghanistan recently in various sports without any issues. And other countries (even ones perceived as anti-israel) have had matches with Israel without any problems. But in Ireland the rhetoric is uniquely one sided and uniquely hateful amongst the mainstream.

The Republic of Ireland's home Nations League fixture with Israel will be moved to a neutral venue, RTÉ Sport understands, pending UEFA approval. rte.ie/sport/soccer/2…

Pathetic. While Ukrainians are digging loved ones out of rubble, parts of Europe are still busy selling access, visas and strategic assets to people tied to the regime funding it all. Ireland wanted to look “open.” Instead it looks compromised. And Moscow always knows how to exploit weakness.

Ireland has been welcoming the Russians en masse and allowing them to own and export massive industries on their soil. An extremely embarrassing and pathetic situation in 2026. newstalk.com/news/russians-…

@HibernianSea @elikowaz Russia attacked Ukraine. Russia is responsible for all casualties of that war. Gaza attacked Israel. Gaza is responsible for all casualties of that war. In both cases, Ireland sides with aggressive tyrannical dictatorships against free democratic nations.

This sums up the Irish obsession with Israel quite well. A Russian refinery on Irish soil only becomes a problem the moment you imagine it supplying Israel. Russia’s actual war barely registers. As I wrote last week, the fixation says more about Ireland than about Israel.
Caolan@CaolanReports

I asked a local councillor if the russian refinery here in Ireland should be sanctioned. He said yes, if it was supplying Israel. But Russia? No. This is Ireland’s sanctions hypocrisy in 90 seconds.

While interviewing idiots of this calibre. #BallsOfSteelCaolan has the Patience of a Saint👏 During horrors of WW1 1914-1918 (as Ireland's true heroes who sacrificed much) The twisted little Kaiser enlisted #RedPaddies & their fellow travellers A pattern repeated ever since 1/4

It's because our foreign policy is "values based" (or meant to be) rather than "interests-based". My own view is that all government policy should be focused on what it is in Ireland's interests rather than moral posturing. Posturing is all well and good until you find it's selectively applied.
