President Trump has the power to convene the Senate under Article II, Section 3 of the Constitution “on extraordinary Occasions.”
If a department with 260,000 employees (DHS) going unfunded isn’t an “extraordinary occasion”—especially while the Senate is out on a two-week recess during that shutdown with no plans to resolve the impasse beyond “we’ll deal with that in two weeks”—I don’t know what is.

Democrats weren’t even negotiating until last week. Their lack of good faith left this as the only agreement @LeaderJohnThune could reach.

The reason Massie is always voting with Democrats is because he’s not a conservative or a republican, he’s a libertarian, and that party is currently way more aligned with the left than the right. The libertarian party nominated Chase Oliver in 2024, an openly gay man who supports drag queen story hour and men in women’s sports.
There’s a reason libertarians get less than 1% of the vote when they run in their own party, and that’s because they’re radicals who want to fundamentally change America to a lawless utopia where everyone can just do whatever they want, just like the left. That’s quite literally the opposite of a conservatives, who want to preserve America as a nation of freedom, but also a nation of laws. In other words, a constitutional REPUBLIC.
Massie only ran as a Republican because he knew he would never win if he didn’t. Then, he voted like a libertarian, and passed only one bill in 13 years. He takes money from the same people who donate to the squad, and just like everyone else on the far left, he hates Israel because they stand in the way of the new red green alliance. He’s an accelerationist who wants to burn it all down and teaming up with the far left and Islamists is the best way to do that.
If we want to Make America Great Again, we need to stop electing RINO’s who don’t share our values, and build a coalition where our representatives are all on the same page.
Politics is a team sport, and Massie isn’t on our team.

It’s easy to dunk on Geoffrey Hinton for his 2016 declaration that it was “completely obvious” that radiologists would have no jobs within 5 years, while in fact, the number of radiologists has grown. But this prediction was more than a simple mistake. It’s a synedoche for the entire discourse of AI timelines and doom.
