@teslascope @DirtyTesLa @SawyerMerritt We know what they hope they can do. We want to know what happens if they can't. Something like "We will offer a one-time transfer indefinitely", "if we can't get it by X date, we'll give you your money back", or "we will continue to try forever, so you aren't owed anything"

As a HW3 Model 3 owner (and one of the first to get a retrofit from HW2.5), I don’t think it’s per se an issue with the answer we’ve received from Tesla, and more so the timeline. Everyone has their own tolerances for waiting; while I don’t mind waiting years, others feel differently. Many will lose their vehicle or sell it (whether to upgrade to another Tesla or not) before seeing Unsupervised come to fruition. So I think that rephrasing the question to request a formal timeline and commitment, rather than guestimations, would appease the largest group of HW3 owners. “You will receive Unsupervised after we solve it on AI4” has already been given (and is a solid answer). Still, without tangible commitments, it leaves owners (and retail investors) with more questions. If a software only solution is on the table, more confidence is necessary. If a form of retrofit is required, try to set a firm limit on anticipation. I believe we all mutually feel this way. ❤️

@Simonij_dk @marcelpociot @getpolyscope I had this same problem, and added the following to my polyscope.json setup script: "sed -i '' \"s|^APP_URL=.*|APP_URL=https://$(basename $PWD).test|\" .env"

@elonmusk @Tesla @Tesla_AI I haven't tried it for about a year. So I went to my car, made sure I'm on the latest software version available, and see that its the same version as a year ago - 12.6.4

can someone explain to me why i wouldn't just pick "extra high" every time? is it basically "greater reasoning" = "longer response times"?

So FSD does have *some* type of ability to interpret signs... I won't say reading... but if this gets better in future updates, FSD will be on another level (again)

@jeffrey_way Fair. And I was obviously being hyperbolic, but DO believe product owners tend to over-value the domain name. Partially why you have some many dead landing pages. They spent too much effort on finding a great domain and not enough on validating a product.

@SawyerMerritt @Tesla I'd pay 12k one time to have it 5 years ago. In fact, I already did! So now I would like it delivered on my HW3 car, AND get at least a partial discount for it being so late. That is only fair. If they hadn't sold it to me years ago it'd be a different story.

What would you pay for @Tesla FSD Unsupervised (where you can be on your phone, sleep, watch a movie, etc)?

@DirtyTesLa This sounds VERY familiar to 6 years ago, when Elon said FSD was solved, and to lock in price now, as it would never be this cheap again, and price would increase with capability.

And there's the issue. Everyone "omg paying $99 a month is soooo much better than owning it" Sure, until they raise the price. Happy to own FSD and seems I'll be using my current vehicles for quite a long time :)
Elon Musk@elonmusk

I should also mention that the $99/month for supervised FSD will rise as FSD’s capabilities improve. The massive value jump is when you can be on your phone or sleeping for the entire ride (unsupervised FSD).

@teslascope @michael_on_x_ @FredLambert Got it. Just you saying that it "should be celebrated" sounds rough to some. We all want advancement, but there is a larger context to this, and given that context it is reasonable for some to not feel like celebrating yet another step that still doesn't deliver what was paid for

Tesla is playing catch-up while trying to look like you’re winning. I think this is where things start to be interesting because now Tesla Robotaxi is basically where Waymo was 5 years ago. The $TSLA bull argument is that now it scales faster and surpass Waymo soon. Let's see how this plays out lol.

@Tesla I was told my Y would be an appreciating asset, FSD would never be cheaper, and starting like 5 years ago my car could be operating as a robotaxi making me money. Can I get a full refund on the car? I’m still out opportunity cost, but it’s a start.

@teslascope @michael_on_x_ @FredLambert You may be able to laugh this off, but people were financially ruined investing in a Y because they took Elon at his word. But fuck those guys for being gullible, right?

@teslascope @FredLambert Fred is right. This is a scientist saying he cured cancer, collecting money from people saying the cure is coming this year, when it was all BS. Now he is giving a tiny amount of people a slightly different version of radiation that has been on the market for years.

My take on the new Tesla patents to run more advanced FSD models on HW3 is that while this is clever engineering, it only points to enabling Tesla running the "v14 lite" on it - a lite version of a software that still doesn't deliver on Tesla's promise of unsupervised autonomous driving. Don't take it the wrong way, I know this is progress. My problem has always been that we cannot simply report on Tesla's FSD progress without comparing it to what Tesla sold to FSD customers: unsupervised self-driving. These patents don't change the fact that: - HW3 doesn't have enough memory for modern FSD models - HW3 cameras are 4x lower resolution than HW4 - Tesla has no concrete plan to upgrade HW3 computers - Even with these tricks, HW3 will only get "lite" versions of already-supervised software These patents only point to Tesla having found a way to run a lesser version of its existing software that doesn't enable unsupervised self-driving. It's not a solution to Tesla's problem. In fact, it only appears to serve as an excuse to delay the inevitable hardware retrofit or refund that Tesla will have to give to all HW3 owners

@rhensing @tpgoebel @DirtyTesLa @elonmusk They also had the 'Paint it black' video OVER 9 YEARS AGO. And the 'robotaxi launch' over 6 months ago. For Tesla, you need to learn to stop believing in what is 'coming soon' and start living in reality of what is currently here. (Which is amazing tech!)

Alright @elonmusk let's clear it up for everyone. Will Ai4 be capable of unsupervised on customer cars? People are concerned after recent comments, especially now that Ai5 is close and we will no longer own Self-Driving and only subscribe. Thanks ✌️
