Well, Wedgie didn't fall off, but not seeing an improvement with the trailer connected Around 1250 Wh/mile versus the June test runs of 1200 wedge free, but HVAC was working overtime today Ideally, will get longer distance test going tomorrow morning before the heat sets in x.com/minusYCore/sta…
Mongo@minusYCore

Short run, no trailer results, round-trip averaged, but winds are variable Tomorrow's test is ~75 miles each way, 50 at 65 MPH on highway Wedgie 55 MPH: 580 Wh/mile 65 MPH: 660 Wh/mile Enclosed cap 55: 430 Wh/mile 65: 445 Wh/mile Truck 55: 340 Wh/mile 65: 370 Wh/mile

@minusYCore @Rockternal Has this combo moved yet? What’s your data with trailer with stock truck l and with flat cap while towing the trailer?

Today will be the initial shakedown cruise of (cheese) Wedgie, aero fairing test article v1.0 If all goes well (nothing falls off), then trailer test tomorrow Any guesses on how much worse aero will be with only the truck?

@HomeMediaX Yeah I wonder the aame thing, golf balls spin though? Seems like boundary layer will be stickier... Might tape yarn on to see air flow

I didn't understand your goal was to real world test miles / kWh. It's a great experiment. Wondering out loud if OSB is better for aerodynamics like a golf ball? Or smooth is better. I never got through calc, so wouldn't have a clue how to model drag and down force of that wedgie

@Chassdesk I gotta see the trailer, especially since the lamp check runs continuously which resets the trailer's wireless cameras Fender cams are pretty good though (when they're displayed)

@HomeMediaX It was the only easily source-able sheet good in a 4x9 foot form factor (wedge is 54 inches wide) Plus cheap, so not terrible for a first draft prototype If results are promising, I'll redo it with more pieces (one section per 4x8 instead of two from 4x9)

@minusYCore Very cool OSB? Not marine ply? Also, y'all figure out how to access the bed from within the cab? Minimally those slider windows that pick-up trucks have?

@CybertruckEngr Right, Kammbach is what the truck started with The goal is to optimize the system when a tailer is being towed, so vacuum in front of the trailer isn't such a bad thing Maybe?

@minusYCore Dr. Kamm - creator of the kammback design - would have something to say. The aero results will be worse than putting a sheet of plywood straight up on top of the truck. You are pushing the air up the ramp and creating a huge vacuum behind the wedge -- drag. Kammback is the way

@rhensing @Rockternal Yeah... I have no available wall space unless I remove cabinets, and that would not go over well...

@rhensing @Rockternal That is in the realm of possibility... But harder to implement, especially since I need all the headroom I can get (thus the tall trailer)

@wattreach @aaronjcash No mistake because it allowed them to use Backup Switch right on meter instead of rerouting all-powerful through a Gateway Speaking of, has the conduit replacement occurred? 📷

Woke up this morning to powerwall notifications and noticed they were powering the house. San Diego inspector scheduled on the 27th to give the ok. Is Tesla just testing ahead of inspection?

@KerbalNut Yeah, OSB was the only locally available sheet good that was 9 foot long Super not durable bare Could piecemeal from 4x8 sheets Or @sendcutsend can make the panels (54" wide) in stainless, that would be final foldable version, but I need some data showing this works first

@Rockternal Trailer has rounded nose and is 11'3" tall at the AC unit, 10 foot something at roof Fairing is ~9 foot to the ground Trying to tie the two airflows together 🤷‍♂️ Depending how this goes, could add side and top extensions to bridge even better

@minusYCore 😂 what on earth are you doing! That thing is crazy tall! At some point it makes sense to to a round aero cap on the trailer. 🤔 Truck alone 30% loss? Either way Im super intrigued. 😆

Selfless future Cybertruck request because I'm out of warranty. Dear @Tesla I have 2 requests. 1. PLEASE make the emergency release for @cybertruck out of metal 🤦🏾‍♂️ 2. For the love of Everything please add an easier access for charge port repairability. Having to remove the bed liner is wild.
