Yesterday, SAFE hosted a roundtable in Washington, DC with a senior delegation of the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), U.S. government officials and private sector leaders to discuss collaboration on critical mineral and associated energy and infrastructure investments in the DRC.  The event was part of the MINVEST partnership between the U.S. Department of State and SAFE, and took place in the context of the peace talks involving the DRC and Rwanda, which offer an opportunity to unlock the immense economic potential of the Great Lakes region and strengthen U.S. critical minerals supply chains. @AsstSecStateAF @GPatState

SAFE and the State Department are partnered through MINVEST--the Minerals Investment Network for Vital Energy Security and Transition--to drive private sector engagement in critical mineral security. SAFE expresses its gratitude and appreciation to the delegations of the DRC and Rwanda, to business executives for their engagement in this important work, and to the U.S. State Department.

Today, SAFE hosted a roundtable with delegations from Rwanda and the DRC to discuss collaboration on critical mineral investment and security. With the implementation of the Peace Agreement, the DRC and Rwanda have an opportunity to unlock immense economic potential through the Regional Economic Integration Framework. This event focuses on U.S. private sector investment to ensure Rwanda's and the DRC's mineral resources catalyze economic growth for the region rather than entrench conflict. @AsstSecStateAF @GPatState

A highlight: meeting astronaut @Astro_Wakata, a true symbol of Japan’s space legacy. The partnership momentum here is unstoppable! 🌌

A pleasure to welcome not one but two 🇯🇵 astronauts to @usembassytokyo 👨‍🚀👩‍🚀. @Astro_Wakata and @Astro_Naoko might not call the @Space_Station home anymore, but they’re still reaching for the stars through their vital space projects on Earth.

Day 2 of #PODJapan lifted off with a stellar visit to @JAXA_en’s Tsukuba Space Center 🛰️. The delegation observed real-time ISS operations in the Kibo Mission Control Room and got hands-on briefings from JAXA scientists on cutting-edge projects—from robotics and pressurized rovers to protein crystal growth in microgravity for healthcare innovation here on Earth. The expertise and entrepreneurial drive of our 🇺🇸🇯🇵 private sector is key to our continued leadership and success in space 🛰️.
