@rustindodd Looking forward to reading this but do want to mention coaching like a teacher isn’t a revolutionary concept. It’s OG. Many of us use a classical teaching model and it’s how Coach Knight approached his job.

Coach McCord does an amazing job promoting @USFWLAX . While every coach is asked to promote, a few go way above & beyond. When I worked in Athletics, a couple of the best at it were Coach Kiefer & Coach Greenberg. As someone who sold tickets, I appreciated those who pushed!

If Senate passes it (they did unanimously before) then it would eventually be sent to Gov. DeSantis for his signature.

SB 538 (i.e. the coach pay/FHSAA transfer enforcement bill) is now "in messages" meaning it's headed back to Senate for vote since House amended the bill that the Senate sent over. Senate will get the bill presumably tomorrow (with amendment) and then have a chance to vote.

I don’t know what to say about Joey that hasn’t been written or beautifully expressed today and all of it is true. If you read his stories, the word “surreal” appears often. And that’s how this day has felt. Surreal. I’m heartbroken for his family and friends, especially his children whom he loved so much and talked about with me often. Joey lived life that was without arrogance or harshness, but rather filled with grace, humility, and light. I was so fortunate to work closely with him for two years covering the Bucs. He was kind to everyone he ever met. I know he was a man of great faith and because of that kind spirit, perhaps he just completed his journey much faster than the rest of us. Cancer took a lot from him but I never heard him complain. Not once. As John Romano wrote, he was at peace. I went looking for a Bible verse because no words seem appropriate. It’s 2 Timothy 4:7 where the Apostle Paul writes “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." We will all miss Joey terribly and pray for his family and all those who loved him.

Tremendously saddened at this news. Forget what a great journalist he was…Joey was A+ human being and a man of genuine deep faith. Rest well faithful servant.
