Tbt to when you could make a career out of riding the 9month ramp with guaranteed OTE period and then job hop into the next role WITH a paybump
Some people made out like bandits.
- 4 roles, 6mo each, OTE pay
No free lunch tho,
the sales gods came to collect
The smart ones did 1-2 strategic job hops, upgraded tittle, and buckled down
Promos that used to take 9mo now take 18mo, smart ones squeezed that out and are cruising now
The Deal Director@thedealdirector
@BowTiedCocoon The amount of careers that got derailed because of greedy job hopping in '21 and '22 is rarely discussed. Many ended up getting laid off because they wanted to MAXIMISE THE BASE PAY rather than focus on building a reputation and competence in an org that was already solid.

For SDR roles, yes. SDR is truly entry level. They want motivated talent that is willing to prove they can survive and thrive. As someone said in the past, “its an incubator role”
Any non sales exp you just have to sell it during the interview on how it made you a ready seller or gave you transferable skills
Most SDRs comes straight out of college, restaurant exp, random corporate exp, ex military, etc. Most font have sales backgrounds at all
Shoot your shot
English

@GetATechSalesJ Can you use other types of experience to compensate for a lack of SDR experience?

Tech Sales cleansed itself of tourists and became a niche career once again...
We might never experience Covid buying/careerMobility frenzy days ever again but there's hope

Don't see anyone talking about it but the layoff bloodbath is over. Open tech jobs are up 37% from the bottom in March. Combine that with interest rates heading down + likely trump win, we should be back to 2019 esque job market by 2026.

Jiu Jitsu has always provided me with the upmost clarity afterwards
I’ve done it all and played every sport. There is nothing like it.
Taps into something spiritual, social, primal, and certainly physically exhausting.
Impossible to be stressed after some hard training.
Have such perspective afterwards always
San Diego Jitsu scene is on fire 🔥

@GetATechSalesJ Knock on wood,
Equity should be worth something 😅
Too late to the game for anything life changing though..

Tech equity/rsu's are the biggest white/black pills
If you get lucky and build/work for the right trend+people at the right time AND stick around long enough, life changing
White pill -
TWO years ago Bridge was created
Last week it was acquired for $1.1B
Black pill -
Join Asana 2021, hold until 2023

@L8rG8r007 compared to roni days 100%

Hyrbid is the way for entry lvl if you want to crack into tech quick

Most of the time you can pull it all out and take the 10% penalty plus income tax. In theory, if your company match is solid and you can choose the investments while in it, it’s a nice way to force yourself to build some savings that you do have optionality with. I’ve been dumping mine into greyscale bitcoin trust for years and now fidelity bitcoin ETF
English

Y'all believers in employer sponsored 401k?
% of your pre-tax income taken out and siloed in an account with 5-25 pre-selected vehicles for you to invest in and HODL until age 60
Sounds like a passive ponzi to me...
No early withdrawals unless "hardship" or you leave the company OR you turn 59.5😂
Better spent in crypto, biz attempts, and/or fam/gf/friends quality time when young ALIVE and full of poooowwwwweeerrrr

@coldcutsenjoyer i think everyone in tech interview'd or at least got a DM from their recruiters haha

@GetATechSalesJ Asana was making lots of noise 1.5 years ago, they’ve really seemed to just fall on with the masses recently

@GetATechSalesJ This is where having a good network can be life-changing.
Knowing what companies are going to be hot, where all the top talent is going etc.

@chibullsbot 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I wonder how liquid their equity is, must be sexy
English

Unicorns with Equity/RSUs that are liquid and worth something create two interesting types
5-8yrs ago they took a random role, straight out of college for $80-150k and some equity per year with 0 expectations
5+yr later their equity is mid/high-6figs, some even 7figs
(not counting personal investments)
If they stick around,
Type A,
Brings that C-Suite/Founder Aura + contagious gratefulness for life
Type B,
Believes they are the most gifted person alive, who is untouchable and worthy of all

@GetATechSalesJ @bizhealthhelp do your thing
If 6% of your pre tax income limits your from achieving anything you mentioned, you have bigger problems than investing in a ponzi
