@notnijiatall @PopBase At the risk of doxing myself (maybe), i was in Yahoo! Content Science in 2017 and guffawed when that tweet showed up. I voted for Orange Man 3x and i wouldve been terminated and maybe even mauled alive if it was known i was an OG MAGA.

@naaycoqui @ZacharyDonnini @L2political JFC, you guys still haven't learnt the lessons of Kamala recruiting Liz Cheney to win over Suburban PA GoP voters huh? Talarico has zero appeal to the GoP and even less for MAGA.

Dem turnout is blistering. 10% previously voted in an R primary (per @L2political), and you have to wonder how much of that is true "party switch" voters vs. GOP voters crossing over to meddle in favor of Crockett.
VoteHub@VoteHub

🚨 Democrats have widened their turnout edge in Texas — 25,940 more votes cast in the Democratic primary than the Republican primary. 🔵 Democrats – 277,706 (44.4% of 2022 final) 🔴 Republicans – 251,766 (24.6% of 2022 final)

The right-leaning intellectuals have all fallen in love with Rubio. He will clearly be their consensus choice in 2028. I wonder if Republican voters will feel the same way.

I wasn’t following the internecine Republican squabbling too closely (don’t have the bandwidth) but, wow, Massie and MTG are either lunatics or very cynical and everyone who was disparaging them has been totally vindicated.

@soumitrashukla9 @CoreyWriting Yeah i remember Brat Summer when Momala Kamala would win by 5 and Biden is in the best shape hes been. MAGA3X here, after what Spanberger is doing in Virginia, theres no way low prop GoPers would sit on the sidelines and let lunatics take over. Senate will be 52R-48D.

@JimVandeHei Yeah, I lived through the Brat Summer of 2024 and Joe Biden's "sharpest he has ever been" in early 2024 before he fell on his face. The Media is nothing but a propaganda arm of the Dems. GoP will not lose a single senate seat and will retain the WH in 2028.

I try to not talk about politics. I generally believe the best way I can serve the world is as a non-partisan expert, and my genuine beliefs are quite moderate. So the bar is very high for me to comment. But recent events – a federal agent killing an ICU nurse for seemingly no reason and with no provocation – shock the conscience. My deep loyalty is to the principles of classical liberal democracy: freedom of speech, the rule of law, the dignity of the human person. I immigrated to the United States – and eventually cofounded Anthropic here – believing it was a pillar of these principles. I feel very sad today.

@leoknyc777 @mattvanswol Yeah, its unpopular because ICE needs to ramp up deportations by 10x than what they are doing. We need to hit every blue enclave and put the Panic in Hispanic so hard that we no longer have an option of Para Espanol Oprima 2.

@MarkHalperin @RepCharlieDent @JoeCunninghamSC @normcoleman I watched the 2WAY. Nothing said helped to make sense of anything. At least you pushed back on Sen Coleman who blamed all of the enflamed commentary on the Governor and the Mayor. Why not come clean and say that all of them (including Noem and Trump) are causing the fighting.

@MartinSkold2 Stanford-Binet IQ score of 145, Yale PhD in CS and work in FinTech earning 480K at SV with a current NW of ~2.8M. You'll find a lot more of my batch with similar IQ scores in BigTech. Golden handcuffs are too huge to ignore for most of us.

As I observe now and then, there is a mathematical likelihood of >300,000 American citizens with >145 IQs, presumably 2/3 of whom are working age. Question is where are they, and what are they doing right now? In the World Wars the War Department scoured the universities for professors who could help - everything from nuclear physicists and rocket scientists to military historians to psychologists and literature professors who could help with propaganda and influence ops. If you wanted to do that this round, you’d be hard-pressed - that talent either didn’t get developed, was fired, or was forced to produce garbage until it lost all credibility and purpose.

I just want everyone to understand that America has not been trying. We bully our smart kids. We spend 1000 times more on special education than gifted and talented programs. We eliminated honors classes in the name of equality. We even came up with a replacement for phonics so stupid that half our kids can’t read. Then we take the smartest kids that survive this system, and we racially and sexually discriminate against them for entry into college. Then we do that again when they apply for their first job. And again for every job after that. Then we undercut them in favor of foreign labor that’ll do worse work for cheaper. Most kids see this and just say “fuck it” and focus on sports, or trying to be an influencer, or just give up on trying altogether. Meanwhile in places like China every kid spends 16 hours a day studying trig tables or gets the belt. Yet America is still number one. In everything. There is so much latent potential in the American people. We have tried before. We crossed a continent and carved this country out of clay. We recrossed the oceans and conquered the world by accident as a favor to our friends. One day (hopefully soon), we are going to start trying again. America will wake up. Don’t be on the wrong side when it does.

@jaynordlinger Nick Catoggio wrote something on-point recently. Paraphrasing, but basically: "Calling balls & strikes implies that you're prepared, at some point, to call the batter out." So true. It's a copout to judge Trump's actions in serial, without acknowledging the cumulative awfulness.

Some people take the "balls and strikes" approach to Trump. But the damage he does cannot be captured by such an approach. "This policy good, this policy bad." Trump de-moralizes the country (to use a Himmelfarb word). Bret Stephens gets this utterly. nytimes.com/2025/12/16/opi…

Update: Senate just *passed* Biden’s Afghan resettlement bill 65-35, authorizing uncapped entry/welfare. Just 6 more GOP nays would’ve killed it. Now on to House for final passage. Only hope to stop in House is for GOP to make clear they’ll use vote against swing district dems.

@meganmichelle Hi, I work in a Top-10 FinTech firm (the Thiel FinTech!) with several offices across the Nation (work here in the Bay Area). If you're serious, shoot me a DM and I will refer you to appropriate open positions. The downside: 90% of this FinTech are H1Bs and 85% or so are Indians.

@rightwingnutrs @TonerousHyus Ive a gut feeling we may sneak through in Jersey ( anywhere between 0.5 - 1.5). An AG win in Virginia will be satisfying. But the shocker of the year will be Mamdani losing! Thats my prediction for Tuesday.

@TonerousHyus I don’t know what’s going to happen and Republicans have a natural hill to climb in both Virginia and New Jersey, but I have a sneaking suspicion is worse than it’s ever been at this moment in time.

Hi friends. I need a job! Ideally in Washington, D.C. or remote. My dream is to work in policy or comms at a think tank that is center-left or center-right. I’m interested in economic opportunity, energy, AI, finance, gender, and criminal justice. But I can learn anything quickly. I was just named Volunteer of the Year by the Center for New Liberalism. If I did that much work for free, can you imagine what I do for pay?? My writing on policy has been published widely, including in VICE Motherboard, Reason, OneZero, the Daily Beast, and other fine publications. My Substack newsletter is regularly a top-50 bestseller in the Humor category. I’m ready to start immediately and I’m an absolute bargain, if I do say so myself. I’m also happy to provide recommendations and testimonials from leading policy experts. If you have any leads, please email me at cathyreisenwitz at gmail dot com. To read my clips and resume, head to cathyreisenwitz dot substack dot com/p/hire-me
