@Xbunnyrabbit @TheFrostPrime "Hur hur. Just dont be sad forehead" Depression, as well known as it is. Isn't known enough. The amount of ignorance surrounding Depression and other illness is baffling. It's not a choice. It's an illness.

@doraexi @bigwetbeans @GarrettPetersen If I don't press blue and I don't press red and I don't make a choice. I die because if Red Button Pushers are the majority. If Blue Button Pushers are the majority, I live. If I press red, and aid to the Red Majority, I kill Blue and the silent voices. That's my personal mindset

There is a black button. Everyone in the world gets a chance to press the button or walk away. If at least half of people decide to press the button, nothing happens. If fewer than half of people press the button, everyone who pressed it dies. Do you press the black button?

@BlkSheepTheory @SilmeranoX @WhickTv You say he died, but in the original poll as started... He lived? Everyone lived? The factual evidence we have from the poll being run showed that blue wins?

I'm a blue button pusher. Reasons in no necessary order: 1) Many people I love and care for will press blue. Me pressing blue has a chance of saving them, me pressing red does not 2) I would feel bad if I contributed, in however small a way, to the direct death of a non-zero number of people 3) I believe most people will, when it comes down to it, push blue. Pushing blue has the greatest chance of *everyone* surviving.
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@FatDogMendoza31 @breakingbaht I'm starting to think this whole thing is about reading comprehension. If someone pressed neither button they'd die if red won because they didn't press red, meaning an action was taken to survive, not to die.

It should be an immediate red flag that a lot of these "blue button" weirdos are women. We can either keep making his mistake or figure this out. Eventually, you have to understand women will lead all of existence into a obliteration for absolutely no reason other than their own need to feel good. You either tell them no at some point, or you die. That's the choice.

@breakingbaht Cope. You pushed the selfish coward button and got egg on your face. 😂

The literal only result of picking blue is that you increase your own chance of death from 0% to not 0%. There are only 2 reasons to pick blue: you are stupid or you are suicidal. There is only one reason to try to convince others to pick blue: you want them to die. If you don’t understand this I actually think you are not a human being

@GSJS_1 @JPCatulus @BjornW8916 @redtachyon And now pretend it's the opposite way around. Everyone. Everyone chose red. Unequivocally unanimous. But 2.4 billion slipped and pressed blue. They all die. For what? Nothing. All because of an accident. That's the risk of red.

@GSJS_1 @JPCatulus @BjornW8916 @redtachyon But there's no risk for blue. Everyone chose blue. It was a unanimous choice. Unequivocally unanimous. There was no risk. Assume it's the entire 8 bil people. And even 2.4 billion (30%) accidentally pressed red (children who might have slipped), everyone lived.

@Snack_0verflow @CraftyCorvos Unironically yea. I did not make the choice but rather the maker of the buttons. Personally. I still choose Blue. I dont blame you for choosing red, or not wanting to choose. I blame the creator. Does that make sense?

@I_is_like_stuff @CraftyCorvos So if instead of pressing red, there is a time limit, and if you don't press blue in time, then the red button will press itself automatically, to you that would somehow change the (meaning of the) decision, because now red is true inaction, no only equivalent to inaction?

@bigwetbeans @GarrettPetersen Nah it's more like: *Man holding a gun to someone else's head* Sorry man, if the gun holders are the majority we kill you. But what if we don't pick up a gun? I can't risk that. I don't wanna be killed.

@Snack_0verflow @Viirush The original scenario posits "If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive." Then that would include those who didn't make a choice and condemn them to die by pressing red. Blue saves everyone including the non-choosers.

@Viirush @I_is_like_stuff I do, I'm just rejecting the commenter's framing of it as red literally killing people (not that it matters, since the only people killed are ones who literally signed up to being killed, and they did so for no benefit whatsoever) x.com/Snack_0verflow…
SnackOverflow🍫@Snack_0verflow

@dblblndradio @I_is_like_stuff Sure, but insignificantly increasing the chance of death does not equate to murder. If you pay taxes, you increase the chance that the weapons your country produces end up killing somebody. So are we going to call paying taxes murder now? It's just hysteria

@Testudol @Snack_0verflow I respect that. But I know people who would choose blue for the mere fact that they know that if even a few would choose blue, they wouldn't want them to die, so they'd choose blue in response, and so would I.

@Testudol @Snack_0verflow Understandable. But I don't see the decision as a coin flip. This is not a game of chance, but a game of trust as I see it. Do you trust your fellow man enough to want your own survival as much as you want theirs? If not. Red. If yes? Blue.

@I_is_like_stuff @Snack_0verflow I propose to you a coinflip. If you win you get nothing, life goes on as it always did. If you lose the coin flip there's a chance you'll die on the spot. You can also refuse this offer. Literally no reason to participate in the coin flip.

@JPCatulus @BjornW8916 @redtachyon Whats the difference between choosing red red vs blue blue? In this hypothetical assume everyone, and I mean EVERYONE unequivocally chooses red red or blue blue. No what ifs or anything. We all chose red red or blue blue. What is the difference?

@Snack_0verflow Let's say this instead. We have three populations. 1. Those who hide and survive. 2. Those who do nothing and die. 3. Those who stand underneath the meteor. If enough people stand under the meteor, the damage is somehow spread enough that everyone survives with minor injuries.

@I_is_like_stuff If a Meteor strikes earth, and let's say people who were in their basement, when it hit, survive the shockwave (if they are far enough away), and people who didn't died. Then you would say, that the basement hiders killed the ones who didn't hide. I will not take survivors' guilt

@CraftyCorvos @Snack_0verflow Ah, but you see. The woodchipper scenario vs the button prompt is action vs inaction. I believe the button requires you to make peace that your choice will actively condemn those who disagree. While the woodchipper is a wheel already in motion. Inaction is not an action to take.

@redtachyon @f_mazo13174 @BjornW8916 My best friend is an orphan. My have enough friends and family I can trust, and despite differences, Red or Blue presser, I know who can and will look after them. If the people who choose red are as selfless as they say. I trust my fellow man to look after each other.

@iSkyzzle @LordTash2 @ChrisPacia The moment the argument becomes attacting the other person, no matter your original argument, you've lost the plot. I respect you and your opinions as well. As I've stated previously, red, blue, doesn't matter. We want our fellow man to live. The way is different, but the same.

If you vote differently in these scenarios congrats you are irrational. Time to do some introspection and figure out why you respond emotionally to things rather than logically.

@iSkyzzle @LordTash2 @ChrisPacia Because I'm in another self-sacrificing field, the medical. Politics aside, within my country I believe there's no need for military forces aside from self-defense. If the call to action arises to protect my home. So be it. But we live in a time of peace, what need is a sword?

@f_mazo13174 @BjornW8916 @redtachyon That's exactly why I would press the blue for me, red for my child. I'm willing to make the risk. If I am wrong, so be it. By the blade I swing, so shall I fall. My child never held the blade. Why should they be cut?

@iSkyzzle @LordTash2 @ChrisPacia I do agree with you on that point. If blue jumping in causes the machine to start. Then don't jump in. But the button press scenario assumes you don't know how many pressed the button. I'm just willing to put my life on the line to save my fellow man.
