@CuteAndFunnyAlt This is entirely reversed. Collective good begins with individual choices, not choices on behalf or because of others.

@pocyk228 If it wasn’t virtue signaling in a hypothetical, more people would press red out of fear of dying.

Retards press red out of selfishness. Midwits press blue out of reckless illogical selflessness. Smart people press red because they assume everyone is smart as they are. Wise people press blue because they know other blue pressers are a majority. Solved.
Tim Urban@waitbutwhy

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

@adammichaelwood This makes sense. Voting blue whatsoever creates the issue of potential death vs. not death, based on suicidal tendencies in the name of virtue signaling.

I’m not saying that I’m a blue pusher in a global scenario. However, a world full of reds would be no world at all. It would be a world full of the selfish, individualistic and insufferable
Radon Stone@RadonStone

@dyingscribe YOU ARE A BLUE!? Shocked. Unless you are admitting to being insufferable. Questions...

@unvarnishedvoid You can’t execute people that are executing themselves. In a real life vote without virtue signaling online, most people would pick red when faced with the chance of death.

Imma put my 2 cents in With how this is worded red kills people. There is 0 realistic scenario where 0 people pick blue. So you are executing people. You pick red the blue deaths are more on you. That's why people pick blue I know that more then 50% of people will pick blue
Robb Allen@ItsRobbAllen

New Trolley problem has arrived, only it's dumber. Pres Red - 100% chance of living. Blue - Non-zero chance of dying. It has nothing to do with empathy for others unless you're stuck on suicidal empathy, which is YOUR fault, not mine. There is ZERO logical reason for ANYONE to press blue. NONE.

@adrusi Why are so many people changing the original scenario to try and demonize red votes? Blue typically wins, for some reason, in the button question but they still spend so much time trying to justify it lol

@kareem_carr Red: 100% survival Blue: not 100% survival Blue is literally potential suicide. It isn’t even literally selfish to pick red. Weep for the culture.

If you press blue, the worst case is you die. If you press red, the worst case is you took part in an action that killed just under half of humanity. Clicking blue minimizes the worst-case moral injury. It says you’d rather die than risk contributing to the death of another.

For those claiming that voting red isn’t a symptom of selfishness, imagine a variant of this where your vote doesn’t determine your own life, but the life of a random person assigned to you...

@isnit0 What high trust society? If I was a Japanese living in Japan and it was only people in Japan voting, blue would be the choice. In a multicultural, divided country red is the only choice that gives 100% survival. Blue gives less than 100% survival. Basically this again.

Guys blue is obviously more moral. Sure, red is logical. But blue is more moral. Anyone who thinks in 2nd order effects should advocate for blue. Just like the people who created our high trust societies would. Red voters destroy our society.

We did the red/blue voting thing and everyone else voted and now it's your turn. The vote tallies are suddenly revealed to you and the vote is exactly 50/50. If you vote blue everyone lives, if you vote red all the people who voted blue die. How do you vote?

@mykola Part of the point is specifically that you can’t trust people to push the button that you think they should push. Red is the correct choice logically, blue is the choice for potential suicide. Red is 100% survival, blue is below 100% survival.

Ah this one again. To my dear rationalist friends who are so confused as to why anyone would press the blue button: I don't want anyone's blood on my hands. "But if everyone just presses red then everyone lives" yeah but that's also true for blue, plus no complicity in murder.

@oliveegger At the end of the day you can’t trust people. That’s part of the point. You can virtue signal and say blue is the logical or empathetic choice, but it doesn’t guarantee safety. You can guarantee safety in any case with red. If everyone does this, there’s no issue.

@knowncougar Most female smut readers are fantasizing about cheating and rape and bestiality and being as promiscuous as possible without any repercussions. Walk down any trash smut aisle in a bookstore and this is verifiable.

@LudditeHacker Not entirely incorrect. Unless you grow up with a very tight family or friend circle, you’re thrust into the work force at 18 or earlier and you have to grind to survive until you’re financially stable, which may never happen. No time for social settings most of the time.
