InterVA is a suite of tools for determining cause of death from verbal autopsy interviews - a free resource for all

At @ResolveTSL and @VitalStrat, we worked with @WHO and other partners, including @BloombergDotOrg, @AfricaCDC, @eca_official, @unescap, and @CDCFound on a technical package to help governments use existing CRVS systems to rapidly assess deaths. bit.ly/2ZviajL

@UCGHR @PeterByass @UmeaUniversity A really important piece of work that helps broaden VA beyond the analysis of medical causes to death to include underlying sociocontextual and health system circumstances.

Does the news reflect what we die from? - Our World in Data. “The media provides a near-instantaneous snapshot of single events; events that are, in most cases, negative. The persistent, large-scale trends of progress never make the headlines”. ourworldindata.org/does-the-news-…

An integrated approach to processing WHO-2016 verbal autopsy data: the InterVA-5 model bmcmedicine.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

Around 50% of deaths in the world aren't documented according to @WHO, mostly in LMICs, and #verbal_autopsy (VA interviews with witnesses of deaths) is a useful method for tackling this. Cause of death data are important for planning health services.

The @InterVA-5 model processes all the @WHO VA cause categories across all age groups, so a complete picture of deaths in a population can be produced. This is useful for planners at local, national and global levels, including @UN #SDG targets. media.springernature.com/full/springer-…
