The Youth's Alternative Dispute Resolution Forum
Beyond the Courtroom:A Shift Worth Noting. The Judiciary @JudiciaryUG introduced the Court-Annexed Mediation Rules, 2026. This is more than just a procedural change. It is a step toward making justice faster, simpler, and more accessible. For a long time, case backlog has slowed down the system. These new rules signal a shift placing mediation at the centre of dispute resolution. But here is the question: Are you familiar with these mediation rules? Do you understand how mediation works? Because the conversation is changing, and we must change with it. #LetsVibeADR

If anyone knows which school this is, we need to identify this girl. Even if we paid for a boda boda for a year. Maybe after that one year, the family will have found a solution or we could still renew her boda offer.

Btw let me say this to fellow family people and rest of you that are going to have families. I hear a lot being said about housemaids. And i dont understand it. Unless you were born in the 1960s, 2026 should be an age where we all agree hoisemaids are not some personal slave. It is employment and should have all the perks and workers rights afforded to any other worker, and your home viewed like every other workplace. Maids do get sick. Maids need breaks. Maids deserve off days. Maids should be paid in time, and should be paid well. If you cannot do those things, you shouldn't be part of the conversation about how maids are difficult people. Because you're also a terrible employer. You cannot fault them for wanting to leave every 5 months when you're paying them crap. How many people would leave their place of work if they are getting paid well? You cannot fault them for getting men either, you didn't hire a nun. Their job description is to do work for you around the house. That job description did not take away their hormones and natural instinct to mate and breed. Talk to them, involve yourself, and maybe you can extend that timeline a bit. But its going to happen. They are human. They want to be loved and want to have kids too. Its a given. A lot of us do not know what good employment of a maid should be like because we have never experienced it. We grew up in households where they were literal slaves. And so that history acclimatized us to all the wrong perceptions of what a house help is and isnt. Lastly, always remember that you do not have to have one. No one is forcing you to. Its your work and home life, figure it out. Do not have 4 kids and spread yourself thin. They are always going to be your personal choices that lead you to needing one.

As I have always said, If you have a problem with menstrual blood, then just date a man. Women menstruate it is not news. And sometimes, mistakes will happen. If you think this little blood messes up your car, then wait till she has to push a baby out in the car while you are stuck in jam rushing to the hospital, you will see real blood. And if she had a heavy meal before labor begins, Number 2 will actually come out before the baby. So this is nothing lads. As long as you are straight and love women, then terms and conditions apply.😉 abakyala bazira.

My classmate, Ssengo Reagan is a 5th-year medical student now facing a difficult time after losing his mother, who had been battling breast cancer. She was his main source of support, and her passing has made it hard for him to clear his tuition. Any contribution can help him stay in school and finish his journey to becoming a doctor. 🙏

“Pick your mentors. Pick your coaches. Pick them early, and listen to them,” Dr @RKirunda urged, as he concluded a deeply reflective engagement with us. The session was more than a conversation; it was a masterclass in intentional living and career design for young lawyers. Drawing from his experience, Dr @RKirunda unpacked the diverse career paths available after law school: in-house practice, academia, the NGO sector, private legal practice, the Attorney General’s Chambers, and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions amongst others. Each path, he noted, carries its own demands and possibilities, ultimately shaping not just the lawyer one becomes, but the impact one makes. He spoke candidly about the power of networking, urging young professionals to take a genuine interest in people. Relationships, he emphasized, are not transactional tools but long-term investments. “Someone is always speaking about you somewhere,” he reminded us. “Make sure they are speaking about your good work.” On personal branding, his message was both simple and profound: do not let the market define you, define yourself first. Beyond career strategy, Dr @RKirunda invited us to adopt a higher perspective on life. To see life through God’s lens, as he put it, is to embrace patience and purpose. “God is a long-time thinker,” he said, cautioning against allowing present challenges to overshadow future possibilities. Perhaps the most grounding reminder was this: growth is a process, often requiring one to give twice as much for what may seem like less in return, but that, he noted, is the price of greatness. And in a line that lingered long after the evening ended: “The only thing that starts at the top is the grave. Everything else begins from the bottom.” Gratitude to @IamTheSparrow for creating the room, and to @elisonk and @DNKibuuka for ensuring that such spaces for mentorship continue to exist. #DearYoungLawyerSeries @DearYoungLawyer #JSCconversations @JSCLegal

Heartbroken for the mother I saw at @UgEquityBank Hoima Branch today. She sat from 1 PM to 4 PM with a sick, crying infant. Only ONE attendant was serving dozens of people. The system is broken. When she finally approached the Operations Manager’s office at 4pm for help, she was told to leave because the manager "couldn't help much." Since when is a sick child not a priority for quick service? To make matters worse, an epileptic customer collapsed in the hall during the chaos. @UgEquityBank, you need to address staffing levels and train your managers in crisis empathy immediately. This is unacceptable. No one was there to assist the mother on how to fill the form, as you can see, on expected turnover, the mother wrote a date instead. Yes, the mother walked away hours later without service. @KeEquityBank @UgEquityBank

ADR is not the backup plan. It is the main strategy. Do not just chase judgments, chase solutions. Do not just prepare for court, prepare for a conversation. Do not just aim to win, aim to resolve. Because in the end, the lawyer who changes the world is not the loudest in court, but the one who restores order where there was once conflict. #LetsVibeADR

I have followed Abdul’s repeated calls for help on Twitter, both direct and indirect, and his situation has weighed heavily on me. In my own small way, I have been supporting him privately. However, I believe this moment calls for more than individual, quiet efforts. It calls for a coordinated and collective response. Ugandans on Twitter have consistently demonstrated the power of community, showing up in moments of need with generosity and solidarity. I believe we are capable of doing the same, and even more, in this case. I do not think we should wait until it is too late and then gather to express condolences, when we have the opportunity now to make a meaningful, life-saving difference. @abdussekalala is in urgent need of a liver transplant. This is a critical situation, and one that I believe we can collectively respond to with intention and compassion. I am therefore proposing the establishment of a structured fundraising campaign to support his treatment. At the same time, it is important to acknowledge that public fundraising requires trust and accountability. To uphold the integrity of this effort and give confidence to all those willing to contribute, I propose that the funds be managed by a credible, mutually agreed-upon third party or a small accountability team, rather than the patient himself. This approach not only ensures transparency, but also relieves Abdul of additional pressure during an already difficult time. I respectfully call upon everyone to contribute in whatever way they can and to help amplify this effort. A life is at stake, and together, we have the ability to make a difference. @AAgather @KwikirizaNova @GabrielBuule @SpireJim
