Hugely proud moment for us in the Ursuline Sligo as we watched Ella Joyce and Ava Pastor appear on the Late Late show with confidence and expertise. They told us a little about their BT Young Sciebtist project here-have a listen! #weareucs #famousnow @lecheiletrust1

@Geoseph_Usher @AccessForAll7 @access_maynooth @IrishWheelchair We work with schools around the country on Universal Design. This gives a multi - impairment perspective on inclusion rather than a wheelchair / mobility impairment only. I am also a wheelchair user involved in international design projects. Feel free to get in touch.

@CormacDevlin @AccessForAll7 @JustinMoylan Will they be following up with the planning approval as the ramp is contrary (and far removed) from guidance documentation and building regulations.... also UNCRPD, Equality Acts, etc.... why was it ever approved at the planning stage? Would have saved a lot of time and money...

@AccessForAll7 Thanks for the message. It's a big issue. I raised it with the Council and councillors on the day it re-opened. We were told it will be corrected but it's disappointing that this wasn't included in the initial project. Local councillor @JustinMoylan will also be following it up

The past few weeks we’ve been inundated with messages about the new baths out in #DunLaoghaire and the fact the ramps out there are mountainous. Sean is a local so we made a couple of videos yesterday, now tell us this public place is inclusive and accessible, go on tell us.🤯

@susanbeeha @LynLynSch @MeriLizzie Not saying you should. Just saying there are situations where they disable people, you could go with a see through mask if this is an issue for someone in your life. If its not then there is no issue.

In 20 years an entire generation of young people are going to be disabled and they are going to ask us why we didn’t do anything to protect them when they were kids and the only answer we will have is “but the economy”

@Jake59533127 @LynLynSch @MeriLizzie 100% wouldn't ask you too! As I wear my mask to protect others but on occasion this does cause issues so we need to consider the situation of others too.

@KB_Adaptable @LynLynSch Also, I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome. It is genetic & comes with deadly blood clotting issues. Unfortunately 1 of my kids, who work w/the public, brought home covid in June. I’ve been sick since. Lost my voice. Plus it advanced 1 of my autoimmune diseases, Sjögren’s Syndrome.

@MeriLizzie @LynLynSch Sadly I don't know sign, but it is on the bucket list, and in quieter places, I hear enough to get by. For some masks are essential, but they do cause barriers of their own for others, its just another perspective.

@KB_Adaptable @LynLynSch They do make see thru mask’s. I’ve seen them. Sometimes the person might know sign language, if you use that. I’ve known it since a small child as someone in my church, growing up, was deaf. My customers, who were deaf, were always happily surprised!

@MaryKenny4 Must be great. I am from NZ, lived in Ireland for nearly 30years (since age 7). Paid tax since starting work in my teens. Have the basics of the language, immersed in the culture. Can't get a passport or citizenship, I am disabled... missed out by a generation.

A million new Irish passports issued this year. Brits are rushing to dig up an Irish granny to obtain one. Great to be popular! But a passport isn't just a flag of convenience. Acquaint yourself with Irish culture as well! My column in Irish Independent today

@jvainstitute Aww thanks. Very much geared towards the age group but it is easy when the students are involved. Pass on my thanks, it was a pleasure working with them...

@Sineadmcgar Why not simply include adapted sports, or accessible sports instead of side lining children? Give all children the chance to excel rather than catering only to the athletes.

@TheBorg99507237 It's possible but they would need to be employed to do so first and have the supports available to enable them to do so (if needed).

I appreciate that the gov is making considerable efforta to emprove the lives of people with disabilities & ensuing that uncrpd is in full operation. We have long way to go & it involves people with disabilities running & operating these support system. Is this possible?
