@JoshInEncinitas @Build_Bigger My block is already greater than 50% cleared. The Army Corps are clearing 40-50 lots per day. I anticipate all lots will be scraped by end of summer at the latest.

@harvilicz I went this morning. The wait was 25 minutes to get an orange pass, not 5 hours.

What I’m doing as 2nd-time founder and father of three young kids to set myself up for success this time around:
Setting work boundaries for myself.
• I only work from 8 to 5 (and rarely go over).
• I don't work weekends anymore.
• I take my family on a 1-2 month vacation every Summer.
In the past, I would roll my eyes and scoff at a post like this. Hard to believe now I’m the one writing it - so what changed?
I gave myself permission to strive WITHIN my boundaries based on what I can control. MY happiness = MY expectations - reality.
But, how can I build something successful and not work 16 hrs per day, 7 days per week?
First, I stopped defining “success” based on Silicon Valley’s version and instead defined what it meant for me:
A profitable, bootstrapped software company that will last for 50+ years.
Second, after my exit, took a step back to figure out what kind of company I wanted it to be.
Consumer-facing companies are a 24/7 grind.
➝ No days off, even holidays— people are always buying.
➝ Constantly optimizing your PDPs, email copy, fb ads, etc.
My new requirements:
A business that's pure B2B, where we don't control the end customer.
A company (@useonward) that functions 100% remotely, where we can flex hours.
It has an incredible business model with high margins and low cost to start.
Between this new remote-first era and my decision to go full B2B, it's the first time in my career that I truly work from 8 to 5 only— and that's been the biggest (and best) shift for me.
Before, I was always "on" from morning until night. I never unplugged for my honeymoon or even my wedding day. There were truly "no days off".
Don't get me wrong— this time, I still get some off-hour pings, but now I'm a lot more thoughtful about my time.
We leverage tools like @loom, @NotionHQ, and @asana to document processes and build incredibly detailed product manuals. Something that just wouldn't happen if we were in person.
If we were in an office setting, it would be easy to ignore writing things down and simply follow instructions —being online makes us much more efficient. We put a greater focus on optimizing the process and improving communication.
I know everyone has mixed thoughts about working remotely— how has it been working out for you?

@BecketAdams The pulling of clips from YT at a break neck pace likely has more to do with YT’s algorithm identifying and pulling videos posting copyrighted material than conspiracy to hide the videos but your point is well taken.
